M drive professional option

In my build I forgot to add the M drive professional option; is there anyway to add that option as an add- on from the dealership or code it in?

There's a post somewhere on here where someone said BMW NA told him it could not be added after the fact.

I doubt it could be coded in because there's a menu interface and it affects the traction control directly. Would be pretty complicated for a coder.

Unless someone finds out it's already baked in and what BMW is doing is locking people out who haven't paid for it. There's been talk that BMW may go to that "subscription" style format in the future.

Where is your car in the process? If its still in 112 status, you can add it before it hits 150.

I chimed in about it a couple of months ago I think. I forgot to check it also. I called and talked to someone pretty high up in customer service. It took them two weeks to ask the right people and get back to me. The answer was no. They can’t do it. I have no idea why not. Software is software. Anyway I was pretty pissed off about it.

You can code this on.
On a M3/4 its probably easiest to change the VO, and add "1MB".
You'll need to find someone with E-Sys that knows what they are doing.
There's a more tedious way to do it with other coding (like Bimmercode, expert mode) but will get cleared anytime there is an OTA or dealer update.

Nice... so you can VO code a $1000 option Kind of like enhanced bluetooth back then
It's pretty simple to VO code.... and it won't get cleared by dealer updates like you said

I can do it for $500

You get M Laptimer and axle slip can be adjusted on a range of a full 10 stages...

If you will never will drive on a track like 95% of M3/4 owners I guess it's not really necesary

If you are getting an xDrive and plan on putting it in RWD mode sometimes, this is the only way you can have some traction control at all. DSC is completely off in RWD mode, M Drive Professional adds it back.

If you're getting the RWD G8x or getting xDrive and never plan on putting it in RWD, then probably not worth it.

Its always a good idea to code the whole car when you change the VO, but I'm pretty sure this is all in HU.
I'm gonna fiddle around with this tonight or tomorrow. Stay tuned...

Well but you probably don't want to code the DME as you would need a charger

Where can I see the status codes? They don't show in MyBMW website.

Wouldn’t the Laptimer still work? It’s an app on the phone which connects to the car…. 🤔

It won't work if it's not enabled on the car...

I mean you can open the app but it will not record anything if you the car doesn't have the car part of the app

So I think it's a little different. The app will still connect but without the option you will not get a laptimer on the HUD nor real-time splits from the car.

Not really cause the Laptimer app will not even show up on iDrive if you don't have the option... so there is nothing to connect to...

It's there on my car even without it... Which is strange. But it will not work correctly without the ios app connected.
