Seriously though I expect strong uptake. I think it is unlikely that they put the auto or DCT in this car. Auto doesn't fit with the mission and DCT would require full recertification if I understand it correctly.
It has already been confirmed that it will have an automatic transmission.

Yes me too. Was expecting more power than 540 horsepower.

I wonder if there will be some sort of lottery to get an allocation. Can’t see any dealer in US getting more than two allocations. I think the M4 CSL is a good car for those who can’t get a 911 GT3.

Or those who prefer front engine rear drive cars, like myself, or just who plain old prefer a BMW to a Porsche

Why is this a CSL not a CS? Surely some carbon bits don't make it a CSL. The CSL and GTS were much more extreme treatments.

Extreme has been phased out. Now they just put special badges, some carbon and an exhaust and call it a day.

The L should mean lightweight. They better do some serious weight reduction. I don't recall the GTS weight compared the old M4. Expect less sound deadening, maybe even stereo/AC delete options.

When you go over the six figure mark, the competition gets really heavy and that C8 Z06 is going to be a freaking monster.

However...if this came in a proper manual, that opens up the door to a lot more buyers.
CSL is coming in no less than 140k I am sure.

I don't know, I would assume the Z06 would save weight compared to even the Z51. I'm basing this on, lighter seats, carbon ceramic brakes, lighter wheels, maybe some parts replaced from metal to carbon fiber, I can easily see a 200 lbs in weight savings.

Z06 usually weighs a little more.

Don't worry, single zone climate control and no arm rest. Maybe fabric door pulls instead of plastic handles.

Oof, that's a lot of money to pay for a M3/4. Dangerously close to 911 GT pricing. I would assume this is going to be close to C8 ZRX pricing as well but really that's all speculation at this point.

Yawn.

Slapping a tune different wheels and stiffer suspension won't make this thing special. It needs a special motor. Past $80k and the M3/4's lose the value proposition. Should have at least offered the manual transmission.

The ///M product nomenclature strategy has been publicized a while ago:
Base -> Competition -> CS -> CSL (replacing GTS)

Much appreciated for the update.

Suspect that the M headlights might have yellow hue LED coloring, similar to the F90 CS, as manufacturing an entirely new headlight unit would not make financial sense— easier to modify an existing part.

I see the BMW Driving Experience adding the CSL to their fleet and charging a premium—I'm all in to travel to Germany for a track training event.

Rear seat will be stripped out like the former F82 GTS with a roll cage with racing bucket seats available.

According to what BMW said a little while ago, CSL replaces GTS. I was expecting ~600hp for the CSL. But as we all know, anything can change.

A carbon hood with functional heat extractors (instead of those two indents at the front) would be a nice touch.

This ^^.

Expect the G80/G82 CS to follow after the LCI now.

Agree with the disappointment with the HP, but 540 hp is pushing the RWD— traction control will have to be less sensitive to engage. AWD would be too much weight.
