So it's safe to say CS and GTS models are likely done? Base (for M3/M4) > Competition > CSL?

Or it's part of the 50th anniversary batch of vehicles, basically a one-off?

6MT and DCT is not going to happen, too much cost involved to engineer for such a niche product. Going to be 8AT.

Wonder what the future CS hp will be, 525 ish?

Interesting that the M4 CSL will with RWD and not AWD, most likely some weight savings.

Any indication of weight? That will be the key to this thing retaining the DNA. I would love if it was really raw. Minimal tech like sound systems etc

CS variants are expected to be produced, at least for the G80.

I would hope the CSL also has a roll cage, carbon buckets, adjustable dampers, etc., which means the price tag should be at or beyond that of the previous gen GTS.

I would hope they keep the CS at or below the $100k mark, though I would love for them to be priced around $120k once loaded up again and sit on the lots untouched for several months. The timing will work out to be able to steal one of those when my current steal of a lease is due up.
I understand lease rates were not favorable on the F8x CS even when they were sitting around on lots.

And I expect the CSL MSRP to be north of $150k.
Lease rates were fantastic on the F80 CS. BMW was throwing in a bunch of trunk money at the car. $800/month leases on $105k+ cars was very achievable.
2 years ago I saw a few of them here in tri state area going for mid 600s lease prices (105k msrp). They had like a 17% discount from jump before any incentives. I regret not grabbing one. At that time I was commuting a lot so rwd was a turn off

When you go over the six figure mark, the competition gets really heavy and that C8 Z06 is going to be a freaking monster.

However...if this came in a proper manual, that opens up the door to a lot more buyers.
I agree. The automatic kills it for me. It's quite a big car for a track monster. A lightweight G87 makes more sense to me.

Z06 will be the best bargain out there, so hard to compare it to that. Maybe you could say it's a bargain compared to the GT3 and it will beat the GT4 on the track, but who would drive an automatic GT3 (not PDK)?

That said, I'm sure it will still sell.

Nah, these were fantastic to lease when flagship was available.

I think I set up 4 leases in the 700-800 range before tax on cars with MSPR over $120k.

Couple of them were immediately flipped on Swapalease and Leasetrader.

3400 lbs C8 Corvette are pipe dreams. A Z51 weighs 3638 lbs on C&D scales making it a porker for its relatively small size compared to the G8x. People keep talking like the G8x is some kind of massively overweight car despite the fact that it's lighter than its direct competition and in the ballpark of smaller cars like the C8.

So many comments about stick it's hard to believe people are still stuck there. Was the E46 CSL stick? Was the E92 GTS? Was the F82 GTS? Was the F80/82 CS? And back in those eras manuals were more common and widely available. So making comments here in 2021 about this car and "will it be stick" is pretty clueless. The real issue with this entire platform is the lack of DCT but that has been discussed far too much already. The questions I have are will there be a CS and CSL? If not there goes BMW creating confusion again right when we thought it would be Base-Comp-CS-CSL. The second question for CS and CSL is about weight. Let's hope they shed some.

I take it the headlights feature refers to the yellow DRLs also found on the M5CS/M8GCFE. This will be an epic car.

That was also a very different market. Now a Kia Sonata that was marked as a CSL/Track version would sell for $100K over sticker.

Seriously though I expect strong uptake. I think it is unlikely that they put the auto or DCT in this car. Auto doesn't fit with the mission and DCT would require full recertification if I understand it correctly.

They should really try to make an aggressive auto transmission then if its only gonna be auto. Would be pretty underwhelming with just the torque converter auto. Hard core trans tuning?? Idk if that will be enough to give it the excitement they are looking to bring with this car at this price point.

If you watched the drift team video, they have the stock motor at over 1,000hp. Forged crank, forged rods and Mahle pistons from the factory. Dual high pressure fuel pumps. This car is made to make more power.

I wonder if this is the replacement for the GTS or a replacement for the CS

If it's a replacement for the GTS, I'm disappointed with the power output. I was expecting 540 for the CS (to further differentiate from the ZCP) and 580 for the CSL
