Order date, production start, delivery

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Post the date you ordered your car, when it actually went into production, and the date of the delivery. I ordered a M235i back in 2016 and it took roughly 3 months to get here. It seems like the turnaround time is much quicker partly I would assume is due to Mexico vs Germany.

I ordered my M240 on December 6th and went into production on December 12th. Still waiting for delivery.

There also wasn't a international inventory crisis/chip shortage/Covid in 2016. Some of the early model g42s are being built in Europe.
Ordered mine 11/13, and still waiting on a allocation. Not to mention that I'm a CA

Production: 12/15
Ready for Transport: 12/23
Still waiting... been told that it had actually left the plant on the way to the port of departure on the 23 as well so I'm just waiting for a vessel assignment. I'll also be waiting for the RAM if it gets to Baltimore before they get more in.

10/21/21: Placed a deposit on a 230i (modified an existing dealer allocation in Production Code 112).

11/29/21: Ordered canceled and re-placed (BMW pulled the original Premium Package and ACC).

12/6/21: Entered Production.

12/29/21 Listed as “Ready for Transport”. No movement since then.

I do know the car has an open recall for the RAM. I assume it will be installed at the VPC.

Really? I thought the only plant for the G42 was in Mexico, and all G42's come from that plant?

Probably 85-90% of them are produced in Mexico and that is the primary plant, but some are made in Europe according to the dcs. From my understanding they will say "NA" when made in Mexico

I also was under the impression ALL of the 2022 M240s are made in Mexico? And what is "dcs". Anyone on this forum that has one built or being built in Europe or elsewhere than Mexico?

Production of the new BMW 2 Series Coupe G42 will start in the summer of 2021 , but for the first time, the rear-wheel drive coupe will not be built in Europe. The new Mexican plant in San Luis Potosí will have the honor to put together the new 2 Series. The plant will deliver the 2 series for all markets around the globe. BMW says the reason for choosing San Luis Potosí as the production location for the new 2 Series has to do with market demands. For example, two thirds of the new 2 Series Coupe is expected to be delivered in the U.S. market.
Of course above source I quote may not be totally correct either. I was surprised to see that the US market captures so much of the 2 series coupe.

I ordered a couple days before Thanksgiving, am still waiting for an allocation. Next opportunity for an allocation is Feb 5. If I get an allocation I’m told that possibly production could be 3rd week of Feb.

Dcs is the dealer portal we use. ALSO known as the pipeline or DAR. If a vehicle in the pipe reads "NA" that's for North America then that means they are made in Mexico. Not all of the allocations in read NA in the pipeline locator so that means some are being produced in Europe.

Order Placed 11/23/21
Production Started 11/30/21
Preparing for Transport 12/14/21
Transport Ship departs 12/29/21
Arrives Port Bayonne 1/14/22

I was told no deletions or hold ups. Car did not appear on Recall list waiting for anything. Checked today and car is now waiting for RAM. Called BMW genius who verified car flagged to hold, but a work order has been opened. Unfortunately no anticipated completion date.

Also told me it had originally be assigned to a truck carrier which would have left today for tomorrow arrival 😟

Mine's been in Baltimore since 1/8 and still shows "At the Port". Hopefully it's a delayed update and the car is already at the dealership. Crickets from my CA but before he "predicted" I'd pick it up this Saturday (1/22).
