Agreed but they are a downgrade from the F80 ZCP seats. Once you grow accustomed to the support (not JUST on the track but during DD), you cant go back.
Agreed on f80 ZCP comment. However, I selected base seats because I wanted the cooled seat function, which I enjoy. But, I still think that I should have got the carbon buckets.
I am in love with the look of the carbon seats.....but I'm 5'9" 180 and built and they are crushing my lats each day.

Only 2 years, 11 months, and 26 days left on my lease no big deal.
LMK if you want to swap a standard Khalami Orange interior to match your Orange car

Joking aside, the buckets are awesome and if the dealer had a car in stock with them I'd have found them hard to resist but very happy with the standard seats. They're so comfortable and look pretty cool too. They remind me of the e36 Vadar seats

I sat in the CF buckets the other day, I hate getting in / out of them but once you're seating it's all fun. I need to have my wife sit in them, she's 5'1" on a good day and will probably hate me for getting the seats. I am excited to get my production number for the M3 here shortly now that my order has been officially submitted

Girlfriend has been in and out of the car every day since I took delivery Memorial Day. Yesterday we went to a funeral and she was in a black skirt with high heels. Each time she egressed I heard an audible grunt and a verbal complaint. God I love zee Germans.

I got my car yesterday, will be posting a thread this weekend with some pics and impressions.

I love the buckets. I find them very comfortable. Getting in over the bolster is weird at first but once in I love them and so does my wife. She actually thinks they are more comfortable than the seats that were in my G01 X3.

They have grown on me. The first few days were rough.

I'm still having issue with the manual, the throws take so much resistance that my 5 month post op right shoulder is not having it. Never had issues with prior manuals even when rowing gears with a multitude of shoulder injuries from weight lifting.

I was told under no uncertain circumstances that I must get them. We'll see if she's singing the same song after delivery. Either way it'll be exciting.

Question

Can you swap the carbon seats for the standard after purchase? I am one week into my first experience with a M3 and waffling a bit on the carbon.

You can do anything for the right amount of money…

Technically, yes, of course you could swap. You'd just need to either buy the regular seats from somewhere or find someone that is willing to swap.

It should not be too difficult finding someone who wants to swap into carbon seats, but finding someone in your area with a matching color may be a challenge. For $3800 on seats that are probably $10k each from the parts counter, I'm willing to take some risks. Wife still needs to sit in them but unless she is a hard veto, I don't think I can pass them up.

I just sat in the carbon seats in the M8 and it is a no for me on this being my daily driver. The bolsters are too high and as a realtor I will have clients in my car a lot so I have to pass on these sports seats.

You’re asking for your partner to have a Brittany Spears moment with those bucket seats if he/she regularly wears skirts.

If it’s the car you both use regularly, buckets not recommended. The joy they give you is not going to outweigh the complaints you hear every single time you ride in the car together.

I agree, if you have a collection of cars and it will not be your daily then all good go ahead and get the sports bucket seats. They will be amazing on the track, not so much taking your date to the valet circle of a busy restaurant.

The ladies love the buckets man. It’s a no brainer. I am not entirely sure where the hesitancy to these buckets are coming from the middle bulge is really a non issue also.

Women don't wear skirts in Ontario. For that matter they don't in Seattle either.

Or in my case I hear no complaints. There is no one size fits all answer about the buckets.

Or find a woman who doesn't complain/wants you to be happy.

Bro they are so amazing and I've already taken her out twice in the G80 in the week I've had it. But I would never valet park, especially not with a 6MT these days.

How do they feel as a daily driver around the city?
