Just get the seats you want. She can get the seats she wants in her car. In ten years you're going to be driven around in an electric car by AI and you'll never be able to buy bucket seats again.

I wouldn't agree with that. I find them to be an upgrade overall from the F80 ZCP seats. A lot more comfortable for sure and the adjustable headrest is also a big improvement.

There's always a back seat, especially if it's the M3.

Good call, tell her it'll feel like you're chauffeuring her around. Just get the buckets.

Just in case we're getting to close to being sexist in this thread, I'll point out that kilts are also a thing.

I think the most significant problems I've heard about with the seats are:
- deep bolsters make getting in and out annoying, which might be fine until you have a tweaky back or knee and still need to drive somewhere... not what I want in an DD
- the inner-thigh piece restricts how people sit, can get in the way or rub on the MT

When I test drove an M3C with the seats, I loved them and was convinced I had to have them. Then I actually thought about it, and the realities of living with those seats (and how annoying it'll be for my wife) and decided it was a hard pass.

To each their own... they are wonderful and functional, and have trade-offs. I'm not willing to make those trade-offs.

Yes, there's the rub: How are these buckets seats for daily city driving?

If a dude rocks up in his M3 while wearing a kilt and going commando, and decides to give everyone a show while getting out, I would have absolutely nothing but respect for him

they are very hard to get in an out daily and will make female passengers uncomfortable and quite embarrassed when getting in and out with skirts, evening dress etc. in view of other people. The middle carbon cup (whatever it is) is just stupid IMO. this isn't a racing car and I don't care for these seats in this car.

Driven some 911's and even a 488, even in that car seats weren't as aggressive and quite easy to get in and out and no raised middle part to separate your legs.

I am glad the buckets are optional and not the sport seats.

my 2 cents YMMV

LOL looks like she had practiced quite a bit for this video...still she literally dropped herself into the seat.

she looks quite tall and is wearing high heels. a 5-6 to 5-8 lady would literally have to open her legs wide and hang one off the thigh bolster to get out like coming out of a bath tub.

It really just comes down to how often your getting in and out of the car. If I was a process server, the car would already be traded in.

Once you're in the seats, there really is no discomfort at all. Now I haven't taken a road trip in them either, so I can't comment on sitting in them for hours.

And therein lies why I had to pass on these awesome looking seats, admittedly comfortable for many once you're in them. It's the constant ingress and egress. And for whatever reason, when I drive the car, I tend to jump in and out quite a bit, for a variety of reasons. And I just can't imagine navigating those high thigh bolsters regularly, especially with the Silverstone interior I ordered (fast wear issues on the bolsters).

But my goodness, what an awesome looking seat. It was so tempting.

I may bite the bullet and buy the upper carbon seatback covers, just to feel like I got a seat upgrade.

Why are we only discussing skirts/dresses ? Majority of the time women are in jeans/pants

Unless your lady friend is a Victoria secret model , this is overblown to epic proportions.

This is more of a special occasion issue, more so than an everyday problem. At least for me

Couple of questions for those that have the carbon buckets:

1). How is it for a tall person (6'4'')?

2). Is it noticeably "thinner" than the standard seats, this providing more significant leg room for rear passengers? Or does it just look that way in pictures?

I can answer #2 and let someone else chime in on question 1.

Yes the buckets are thinner, and rear passengers do have more leg room. But I wouldn't say it a substantial difference.

They will be better for a tall person given you can position the seat substantially lower than the standard seats. I feel like I'm sitting on the floor. It has a very ferrari-esque feel to it.

Agreed but they are a downgrade from the F80 ZCP seats. Once you grow accustomed to the support (not JUST on the track but during DD), you cant go back.
Agreed on f80 ZCP comment. However, I selected base seats because I wanted the cooled seat function, which I enjoy. But, I still think that I should have got the carbon buckets.

I am in love with the look of the carbon seats.....but I'm 5'9" 180 and built and they are crushing my lats each day.

Only 2 years, 11 months, and 26 days left on my lease no big deal.
