G80 Launch Control

I don’t know about you guys but I’m having a difficult time with this. I’m doing the procedure right and I’m never getting a good launch. In fact most of the time as soon as I launch I hear a pop type noise in the engine end it just doesn’t take off correctly. The fastest I’ve gotten is 4.1 seconds 0 to 60 and I only did that once. The rest have been too horrible to report. And the stupid thing won’t let you do it several times in a row. There’s some sort of timer before you can engage launch control again. Anybody know what criteria or time you have to meet before you can engage launch control again?

Absolutely no one that owns a G8X has any input on this? Like none of you are using launch control?

Dude. I bought the car to go to Dunkin' Donuts and the grocery store. You think I'm launching this puppy?

According to the technical manual, the frequency of launch control attempts is dictated by the transmission oil temp. (last line of the screen shot)

I know NCG80M3 did a bunch of attempts for one of his videos maybe he can chime in on that, too

Some people have reported good results not even using launch control. Try 1st and 2nd gear, with and without brake boosting, and see if you can get better times.

Launch that thing next time you go through the drive thru. Pay, grab your Doughnut holes and launch

do you have put it in 2nd gear yourself, and does the car automatically do it once it realizes you're in Launch Mode?

Really? The owners manual does not mention having to put it in 2nd manually

Well if you don’t it won’t go there by itself. At least mine doesn’t. And if it’s not in second gear you can’t initiate launch control.

Mine does automatically! If all the launch preconditions are met, the car automatically goes into second gear when the “preparing launch control” message appears.

I made a video about how to launch this thing but youtube always reduces the quality to 144p for some reason and you can’t see anything. Anyway, all the best bro. Try to put your foot all the way down on the brake pedal and then the accelerator. It should do the trick.

Total thread jack but, does your mss kit make any clicking noises when you're turning at parking lot speeds?

Just saw this. So I know when i first started to launch the car I would wait 3 seconds then go and that is not the way to do it. As soon as you see launch control ready let off the brake. Also, I had to warm up the tires a little and do it on a nice paved street. I was only getting 4.1s in a parking lot, but when I got to the street I did a 4.0 and a 3.85

What are your damper settings when launching? Have you tried Comfort and see if it makes any difference? Sometimes a softer suspension can improve traction as more weight is transferred on the tire.

I think you’re mistaking me for the other member with the G80BSM handle. I’m waiting for my H&R’s to arrive

Nice, the best I got was a 3.9 to 100kmph on a pvt road which has pretty decent traction.
