Clearplex...anyone ever use it?

I dropped my car off this morning for PPF/tint/ceramic. I noticed they also carried and watched an install on a 488 Pista.

Anyone have real-world experience with the product?

Some of the rally guys use it, and they still got rock chips/cracks. The cost of the install was pretty high when I got the quote ($500) and my deductible for a new OEM windshield is $0, so I skipped it.

That being said, if I had a chance to put it on a brand new pristine windshield I might reconsider especially since BMW glass is so soft. I went through 3 in my F87.

I have had it on one of my cars for past 5 years and without a doubt it has saved my windshield from being cracked at least 2 times. There is some distortion/rainbow if you wear polarized glasses.

Overall I am very happy with it and would recommend it.

I was at looking at posting about this subject. I just got a huge hit on my commuter cars windshield, today. Its a damn 2021! I think ClearPlex is the one that has a $750 warranty. Meaning they cover windshields upto $750 if the windshield cracks while its installed. Of course, there is a warranty period.

I'm going to get it installed when I get my car. I just got a huge bullseye crank, right in the center of my drivers view, yesterday, on my commuter car.

Of course, it has a HUD, so the windshield is like $1,400. But I paid the $560 for extended dealer fluff windshield replacement, so, basically, its already paid for itself. I also get 1 free tint replacement, so, Ill use that to get the windshield re-tined. But then even with all of that, I'm still going to get ClearPlex or ExoShield installed on the outside. The car is only 5 months old, and the windshield is already sandblasted and cracked to hell.

EDIT: Oops I didnt realize I already commented on this thread...
