New gen M3 vs the still 2017 platform RS5? Not really news that it will win. RS5 only had a FL recently.

The M3/4 consistently walked the the RS5 in past generations where it counted: on the circuit. It was the YouTube and Instagram friendly drag race where the M3/4 was challenged by the RS5. Now the M3/4 wins in that lowest common denominator category too.

The fact that the RS5 had the jump and then got reeled in and passed that quickly with an increasing gap is a huge indicator of the G80's power. Also that was an embarrassment to the RS5. Audi has to up the ante on the RS5.

As a current B9 S5 fastback owner I will say the current gen Audis are very special, fast and capable cars. But this just shows how bonkers the new G80. Here's to competition.

So you are saying a 4 year old car should always lose? 4 years is nothing in the auto industry

Audi never beats bmw and merc In these it's meant more for the driver who wants some power with a less harsh ride. New RS5 in 3-4 years will still lose to G80 xdrive.

not surprising. The difference in trap speed between the two in the 1/4mile is like the difference between a 4 cyl vs 6 cyl Camry to put thing s into perspective.

Yes the new generation cars will pretty much alway beat the prior gens in straight line acceleration. Since when is that not the case? M3 has more power and it's easy to find the tested times for these cars thus the outcome in the video is obvious.

Didn't Straightpipes or Throttle House run a drag between the M4 and RS5 and the RS5 won because of Quattro?

They didn't launch that Rs5 like the other youtubers. But then again, all that power on tap for g80, it better walk that Rs5. From the dig though, that doesn't look like other races on YouTube. Rs5 was in comfort mode too. Lol.

Ya love to see it! I don't think this is fair as that RS5 was in comfort mode, and I never drive in in comfort mode it's so damn slow in D and with the softer settings, regardless though beyond 0-60 the RS5 has no chance against the M3 and the xdrive will demolish it!

That's audis problem it's still a 2021 with a starting price 75k. The F80 M4 would lose in a drag race due to rwd and difficultly getting a decent launch without lighting up your tires, but F80 still wins from a roll. As other mentioned historically audis have always been slower then Merc and Beamer

Good grief, thankfully they spared the Audi a roll race.

They're always special and look great, just always a little behind the power curve as well.

I really don't think they appeal to the same crowd anymore
M3/M4 has become too boy racer / ricer for my taste
But I am getting older.
I have owned 4 M3s , but I currently own the RS5
I like it because it's more reserved. It's not the look at me I'm a fast car like the newer M3s

It's good to know BMW has finally realized you can't rely on Rwd only I honestly don't miss rwd at all
I'm not drifting or doing power slides
I want to know I can floor it and not worry about the rear wheels slipping or sliding.

I tend to think the RS5 in that video has a flash in it, given how closely it matches up the C63 from a roll. Very suspect.

The one I saw it was from car wow and it was a base M4 (not the competition) and in the rolling races it beat the RS5 by a significant margin

A RWD car competing with a stout AWD car like this RS5 means the G80 X-drive will be absolute bonkers.

And the title says walks... but this G80 but bus lengths on the Audi.

I can't help but think the Audi looks better from the front.
