Only issue I see are the rear tires

Tires, standard rear
285/30ZR20 99Y XL

Have these on my Z4 M40i & they will not hold traction on launch. Otherwise nicely equipped. Will have to borrow it when she gets it.

Just get R888 and be done with it. You will still spin with AWD with shit tires even at 600Hp/600Tq. I pretty much dead hook Rolling launch on R888 at a 1000 wheel when warmed up

agree with you but I responded to his fear versus a Z4m40i. On my F83 it is borderline unpleasant, I spend a set of rear tires per year while in front it lasts 3 years and I am not aggressive. Hard to launch properly and picky on corner when you floor it. With the AWD the wear will be more equal, easier at lauch, more predictable.

Totally agree. Nothing better than knowing you will have traction. I'm over the high horsepower RWD stuff. My F82 is a joke for traction and it's not even fast. Yeah it's cool to have the back end slide a bit but nothing like dead hooking and ripping corners up with AWD. My opinion of course

I flash tuned my previous F83 with a stage II tune, no traction at all from the rears. Traction control would always kick in. That's why I'm embracing MxDrive this time around.

Once the M5 went AWD BMW was saying that the RWD package was now obsolete due to engine power. I am sure with the M4 they did not want to see this but were slow on getting the AWD package together.

https://youtu.be/4CB_cKA9kxE

M4 - RS5 - AMG C63S EURO Spec

https://youtu.be/t1JNuMgKaSA

M4 - RS5 - AMG C63S USA/CA Spec

Skip ahead the yacking to the first the standing start then the roll. The M4 is obviously the choice for power but getting in to the ground is difficult.

Bet 95%+ of the M4's will never turn a wheel on a track but will have some traffic light Grand Prix. Hate to see the M4 dumped by a car with less power but more traction simple because its RWD.

Well, I turned in my F83 M4 Convertible on Feb 2nd which is an absolutely gorgeous car to look at and to drive. I've just been waiting for the new M4 Cabriolet to see what's up. So in summary, we lost the hard top, we lost the manual transmission, we lost RWD, and we gained an ugly front grill.

I'm just not sold at all. I may go for a Coupe 6-speed (non-competition) but with this generation, I have no lust for this car.

LOL at worried about RWD G8X stoplight warriors losing to a Civic because of traction. I've seen Ferraris lose to Camaros, and Lambos lose to SUVs, as these RWD sports cars fight for traction. Do you think we're envying those Civics, Camaros and SUVs because they won a 0 to 50 MPH contest?

Driving is about the experience, and many car enthusiasts would rather experience a fast car fighting for traction than be in that Camaro or SUV winning a few stoplight races to 50 MPH (not that there's anything wrong with SUVs, Civics and Camaros).

Many choose RWD for the purity of the driving experience, not because they're trying to win every race at stoplights.

OK but watch out for the fart can civic when you are making your next grocery run.

Hard to understand why some one would enjoy "fightning" for traction. Would hate to fight with a car to get it to perform.

For traction in my PURE RWD, manual transmission, manual steering, manual brakes, no nanny's car was tune out some of the V8's low end torque & add 13" wide 100 treadware DOT legal road course tires.

As for those Camaros you look down on a few have kicked the M series butt at VIR in the Lightning Laps series, Top Camaro is #17 overall 2:45:0 on the long course VS Top M series car M4GTS @ #48 overall 2:52:9.

What is interesting is there are 3 other Camaros between #17 & #48. The next M car is an M5C @ #56.

Could be better handling in a car you don't have to fight it the best way to go.

Eagerly waiting for theM to arrive to the US and hopefully getting reviewed. The last generation M4 convertible, although good, was not stellar.

Agree! I'm eager to have them actually release them from the port where mine's been sitting for a month! No communication other than what dealer can see in system which is basically nothing.

Wow incredible you already ordered yours! Care to share your specs? I'm wondering if the full carbon buckets are worth it on a convertible. I do miss the neck warmers if I were to go that option.

I am defo a fan! Cant wait to see what kind of builds people will do. It will be nice to be able to really see the interior of the car since so much has gone into it.
