I feared this would happen but hoped it would be later rather than sooner, but the MT is gone in Japan, except for a limited run of 150 vehicles (ADM, anyone??). Still available on m4 though.

This is what’s going to happen in the US. There will be an MT option, but it’ll be some special edition car, w/ a limited run, that you’ll have to bend over backwards for, getting financially violated just for the pleasure of paying a dealer a markup in the vein of Porsche.

Glad we ordered a MT M3 while there are still allocations available. Like the BMW CEO said, if you want a MT M3 get it now before its unobtanium.

I think you’ll be OK till end of G80 generation in 2026/27 to get a 6MT. I think after that it’ll be over.

You think the G84 will come in a manual (if it is even coming at all)?

I would think so, take rate in the US is 50% for MT? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

There is an established M3/M4 community, I don’t see people moving away from bmw but MT buyers will probably just start buying previous generations if they want a stick if it’s not offered in a newer generation.

As a buyer that entertained moving to Porsche, I just can’t deal w/ the attitude & hassle inherent to the brand.

As mentioned above, I think the MT in future BMWs will be special edition cars, not a base model, no cost option as it’s been historically.

Let’s see

I think the MT is probably 10-15% at most in the USA

Granted I haven't followed the G80/82 numbers but the MT in previous E/F M's hasn't been anywhere near 50%.

No chance the take rate here is 50%. None. Probably closer to 20%.

Base on my anecdotal observations from car meets it’s closer to 10-15% for manuals. I think it’s highly likely that after this generation is done there will be no more manuals.

Pretty much , and most folks have Comp and/or X-Drive . With the latter selling like hot cakes

I do however wonder if the % is higher in Germania vs the States

Take rate is 50% for the M2, at least partially driven by the fact that there's no Competition or AWD options, so there's no penalty for choosing the 6MT.

For the M3/M4 where both of those options are available, take rate is 20%.

My prediction: US G8X will keep the manual option through the 2027/28/29 EOP of the respective models. G84 will not offer it.

M3 MT has never been offered in UK only the competition. So taking it off of Japan is no big deal.

I think MT will be offered in Competition models in the US market because of demand and milder emissions requirements vs. Europe.

My first BMW was in 1985 and we currently own two BMWs and two Porsches. There is more attitude with BMW…. Find a good Porsche dealer and stick with them. Nearly ten years ago when I was trying to get a GT4, my local dealer was horrible. Subsequent management and business practices changes, and they are great. They are not necessarily the place to get a deal, but they get great cars and are trustworthy.

Oh, and we have four manuals and one PDK (wife’s Macan).
