sales tax on add-ons?

Hey folks, just added +2 cars to the stable: one new and one CPO in NV.

For both, the purchase agreement shows that sales tax was based on the total selling price which included not just the car but also all add-ons selected from the menu during finance review. For example, Tire & Wheel Protection, Ultimate Care, etc.

I always thought the sales tax wouldn’t apply to the warranty add-ons. My last car purchase the sales tax only applied to the car selling price + documentation fee.

It depends on what your state considers taxable. Some do, some don't.

You are in California. My experience has been that EVERYTHING is taxable.
