Has anyone applied ppf to idrive 8 screen?

I was looking for a screen protector for my 2023 idrive 8 but doesn't look like there are good options.

My ppf installer said they can apply the thinner xpel film to the screen. Has anyone done this? Will it be crystal clear?

Hi

I just got my car with full.ppf and the installer recomand to mount also on the screen...I don't know the brand of the film but it looks perfect, I wouldn't say I have foil on the screen.
I mount also on the windshield...

Interesting!

How's the glare? That was my biggest concern and I ended up backing out for bow

I just installed it.

The fitment is good and so far everything works as intended and a reduction in glare.

That's cool! Did you get the glossy or the matte one?

Just the regular.

Its pretty much like a screen protector that you put on your phone . Pretty much like a hard film.

Has a few bubbles but its just like window tinting. Takes a few hours/days to clear up.

You put it on with water/soap/squeege .

I installed it 6 hours ago and already half the bubbles are gone. I suspect that most if not all of them will disappear in the next 2-3 days

To be honest, I didn't see any any glare, mine is glossy and if I wouldn't tell you about this, you cant see the difference. When I installed my ppf,I put also this film.
Also, I installed on the windshild and two days ago just saved it from cracking when a truck throw something hard and damaged only the film, not the glass..

We install screen protectors on Tesla’s and I usually recommend the antigl glare which is slightly a math finish. Is that how this one is? Or is it full glossy? When they say glare reduction, I would assume some kind of matte finish.

I talked to my detailer and they said they could apply xpel ultimate plus glossy or matte. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet

I’d like to see what a matte screen looks like.

What kind of partying is going on in the cab of your car that would require PPF the screen?

I swear, I think people would PPF their house, wife, girlfriend, deck, and driveway if they could

Yeah, if you don’t like fingerprints use the rotary knob.

I ended up getting the screen protector that someone mentioned above in this thread and it’s been really good so far. Just a bit of added protection from scratches and what not.

But any and all minor defects should clear up in warm weather due to the films self-healing properties!
Yes, the screen protector is from you. I’ll post a photo in a week if it hasn’t cleared up!
