I think the decision will have more to do with emissions and compatibility with potential hybridization.

It’s just a hunch so let’s see. I just wouldn’t delay a purchase because one assumes that manuals will still be around after 2024.

Yeah, I’m working with a dealer of mine and I want to make sure I get the LCI but at the same time I’m trying to figure out when the LCI to go live even though I have no clue what the car is going to look like.. I don’t want to order a non-LCI.

Then you’ll need to wait until next year to order.

BMW has already planned to produce G80/82/83 longer when compared with the typical M lifecycle and would want to extract every penny without additional investments. Other than minor hp increase and visual upgrades, i dont think they will be brining in a major change like hybridization.

Again, everything is just a speculation and time will tell us soon.

Will be interesting to see what is changed, and when.

The DRLs seem like a downgrade. The rest of the exterior changes seem like lateral moves.

Thanks for quoting that. I think it’s a given at this point the G80/G82 get some type of front end refresh. It is just a matter of to what degree.

I hope they doing give it the X5/X6 DRL’s. These don’t look good.

Agreed, hopefully those new DRLs are not carried over to the M3/M4 facelift expected for next year.

Wondered what it would look like if the area below the grille was painted vs. piano black. Pardon the crappy photo editing job (not my day job).

Also, they should have reshaped either the grille or the lower intake so they'd meet at a more natural point in my opinion.

LCI won't get any radical visual changes, don't worry.

I was going to wait for the LCI but I just got a G80 build slot out of the blue. I have no problem waiting, but prices I'm sure will increase again with the LCI and I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost or the extra wait. I hope I don't kick myself later but I'm thinking to just pull the trigger.

LCI will almost certainly have new headlight and taillight designs. The tails on the m3 are pretty bland.

I like the headlights and taillights. I even like the grill. But if they do some major rework of the grill I might want that for the fresher look. I'm also maybe one of the few who would like the mild hybrid to minimize lag. Paying a few $K for that however is another story not to mention waiting another year plus. If all they do is tweak headlights and taillights, then I really don't care.

I'm guessing it'll have the 48v mild hybrid system also, the m340i has it and the new x5m just got it too. It adds 12hp and 147lb-ft of torque, not on top of the current engine but in between during tip in acceleration, this should get rid of some of the lag people complain aboot on s58.

Oh good, I can't wait to see the war zones in the threads on that.

I was in the exact situation. The day after I decided to wait for the LCI, the CA called me with an allocation. I plan to lease so this gives me a chance to order the LCI at the end of the lease, before they get rid of the manual (if they do).
