Very timely. I rarely do long distance interstate, and don't like looks of mirror mounted. I live on a twisty blind corners rural route between parents and friends (it's the main "fun" and cops know it), and think a window mounted removable non-arrow would be best. Reading the vortex review site. Leaning toward Uniden R3.
I'd estimate usage as being "sporadic" since a lot of my travels are in congestion where speeds are contained and I don't like looks of cords, but better than full-time mirror mount that would draw my OCD eye.

Escort Redline 360 for me. Hardwired to the fuse box and switched to the power. Blend mount on the mirror with the quick magnetic release. Remote mute and warning above the cup holder door on the passenger side.

There are two parts to this. I first ordered the BMG-2036 and it was way too far away from the windshield. So then added the BMG-UC5 and that is what you see above.

So I installed my R8 today with a Blendmount and mirror tap on my M4 (with all electronic options).

The only real gotcha was that the video I watched showed the mirror housing coming off in two pieces... take of the left side, take of the right side... done! Not so much, there is a third piece on my car on the mirror side of the housing that encompasses the top of the two halves of the mirror housing. Without first taking that off, I basically just manhandled the halves and did some damage. Once I took off the third piece, the came off EXTREMELY easily... like, without tools.

I have 2 V1's. Old ones now, but they (in conjunction with Waze) has pretty much paid for themselves many times over.

I like that the V1 involves using your brain, the most unbeatable thing on the planet.

If Mike would add GPS functionality I might go back to them but it doesn't appear that he ever will without having to use a companion app in conjunction with the detector.

The R7 does so many things so well, I can't imagine giving up all the GPS related goodies and go back to a V1.

I will say, I love the design of the V1G2. Uniden could take notes here.

Mike seems to be the only one in the RD industry that thinks that GPS is a dumb idea. I'm waiting for my new car to arrive. I've had a bunch of Escorts, but am considering a Radenso or maybe the R8.

I still love the v1g2. V1driver companion app and you have gps. Really sweet combo. I have an apple shortcut that ensure v1driver is open when it connects to CarPlay. A few pics of my driving in the Denver metro area and a little more.

Managed to pick up the Uniden R8 and mounted it using the rear view blend mount. Works amazing and is recommended as the best of the best by Vortex

But what if you also want to use Waze for instance? I don't want to have to open 2 apps every time I get in the car. Sure, I could set up an automated thing, but it just seems like it shouldn't have to be that way. That info should be baked into the detector and updated at regular intervals ideally OTA.

Honestly, i just run v1driver in the background and it tracks the various triggers from radar. It remembers stationary triggers, etc. and tracks them.

I run waze on carplay and just have that running as normal on the idrive screen. It's next to no lift and works fine for me.

That would be sweet, perhaps a suggestion to the developer. He uses apple maps so I can't see why it wouldn't be possible.
