Do dealers receive M3 allocations every month?
I just had my dealer who I have been working with for months and promised to get me an allocation for Jan or Feb tell me that they haven't had an allocation for months and there are 5 people ahead of me and can no longer guarantee I will get one in the near future. When I told her that I had heard that M3 allocations for January were released and did they give those out already, she said they did not get any M3 allocations this month, only 1 for an M5. They are only getting 4 allocations for Feb but they are not sure if any of them will be for M cars.
Just trying to understand how allocations work. I was under the impression that the dealers get M3 allocations monthly. Thanks for any help educating me here

M car allocations are sent out every month in the recent past. Again that isnt a guarentee that every dealer might few when its sent out. High volume dealers might get a few every month and others might wait months. No one can forsee how many a dealer will get next time.

I think I remember Golfrr?? (The SA for a bimmer dealership) stating that the allocations for M cars have been 0-2 per month for the past year. So I think your SA is telling you the truth

Allocations for March builds should be sent out later this month.

Oh really -- that's interesting, I thought allocations for the next month were sent in the current month, I guess not. My sales guy told me he is estimating a march allocation, not sure if that's a build or when an allocation is secured for me though.

My local dealer hasn’t had one in 3 months and they have 5 others on their list.

Allocations for M cars have been so limited, I'd be highly skeptical of what your sales guy is telling you. (He's mainly trying to keep you from shopping other dealers for allocations.) Here in the Central Region, dealers may collectively get <5 M3/M4 allocations any given month. Someone posted M3 allocations for February builds, and I counted only (3) for dealers in states that didn't border an ocean. |

December allocations were for February builds. Individual will push the builds out, but they were still originally for February builds.
