Who’s riding on a HAS in NYC and how bad is it? Going to be getting my MP HAS installed on the 20th and am already stressing lmao.

Ha! I was in Queens forever until I moved Upstate at the end of 2021.

As i understand it, the MP HAS kit is stiffer then the KW. With the MP, comfort feels like was sport would feel like with the stock suspension so I'd imagine the ride quality will feel rougher. I hear KW retains the stock quality the most out of all the HAS kits out there, which is why I opted for KW. Who's doing your install? Probably Keith a the Stance Shop?

Nah I don’t really mess with Keith tbh. Have had a few not so great experiences and also can only go to him if you’re willing to wait around all day. I’m surprised he’s as highly recommended as he is tbh lol.

Idk yet but probably auto couture lol. Even though 875 is steep I think they’re trustworthy.

Personal experience: I drive around the Bronx/New Rochelle regularly. New Rochelle roads have become worse than NYC roads, and my dampeners/shock absorbers blew out from driving over them at normal speeds (this is my fault too, not just the roads, I should've driven slower).

I was on KW HAS and have swapped over to the V3's. The OEM dampeners/shocks couldn't cope with the spring rate of the KW HAS and blew out. I didn't notice too much handling difference between OE springs + KW HAS, but the KW V3's I'm on now are amazing and I notice, above all else, much more confidence when driving over twisties. I have no lap times to compare to, but do genuinely feel more confident on V3's vs. the HAS.

If you have the budget for it, go for the V3's. They won't ever be as comfy as the OEM setup, but it's decent and I'm enjoying everything that it comes with.

And in regards to whom to go for for install: AutoCouture handles a vast majority of my car mods, and BimmerClinic/MaximumPSI does a few odd jobs here 'n there, but you'll have troubles getting a hold of someone at BC/MaxPSI sometimes since they're a smaller operation which is frustrating at times. ACM will never leave you disappointed, but you may have to wait for an appointment.. there's a reason for it.

Same, I had him install a catless downpipe on my G20 and waited literally all day. His rates are reasonable and does good work, but the lack of service and a booking system, and just fundamental professionalism drove me away.

Damn, thats nuts. Even with a slightly stiffer spring rate, it's insane to me that the stock shocks blew out, how many miles did you have the KW HAS kit on before you realized the shocks blew out? I've had the Dinan springs on my G20 for a couple years now, and driving around all over Queens and the city, my shocks are still well intact. But then again, I drive super slow when I'm in NYC for this exact reason. You don't miss the ability to be able to stiffen the dampers electronically in the car rather than having to do it at the dampers with the V3's? I just hate the idea of losing this factory feature on a car that costs this much.

And hear you on shops, I did end up just biting the bullet with ACM on my KW HAS install. As pricey as it is, I'm rationalizing it as a "peace of mind" tax knowing they consistently do great work.

I’m on it and live in NYC area and it’s fine. What’s to be stressed about?

agreed, Autocouture does the best work, you will legit never have an issue.

Nice! You planning to add a front lip? I'm torn on whether I should or not knowing well that the lip can get destroyed on NYC streets.

Now that’s something I’m hesitating on. For a few reasons. I have a sloped driveway, my block is a slope as well, and the two angles don’t flow lol and these streets.. so for now I’m holding off

I put a front lip on mine with the KW Has kit, granted its a rep m performance lip lol. Figured if anything I'd rather ruin a rep instead of a real one.

Fronts are maxed out, still have yet to bottom out or hit the lip. On speed bumps I can still do 10-15mph no issues. The good thing is the m performance lips don't really stick out too much versus other lips out there.

Looking good man. So on speed bumps, at 10-15 mph, you're not having angle in and out to not scrape the lip?

Thank you! No angle, just go straight on. I'm sure sketchier driveways and such will require some angle lol

Crazy. I don't have a lip and KW HAS kit is definitely not maxxed out in the front or rear, but I'm still paranoid of scraping because it feels so low.

Finally got the KW HAS kit on with an alignment after it settled. Haven't driven into the city yet but think this height will be manageable. Hope I feel the same way after the front lip goes on.

Any updates to this thread from ppl going with the HAS kit in NY?

Looking for as much advice as possible in deciding HAS or v3 for NY roads. Hearing about the blown shocks ppl have had def worries me considering how bad NY roads are.

I'm personally considering the HAS kit because I hope to not heavily modify this car, and I fear getting V3s for me is reopening that can of worms.

Speaking from a personal perspective of course, but would have to go with the v3s if HAS leads to blown shocks in NY.

Anecdotally on my M2C I blew a front strut on the V3 also lol. Our roads just suck depending on where you’re at.

Those that got it installed have they replaced the pinch bolts with brand new ones as they are one time use?

What lip is that? I’d only go with a rep as well in the front. Chances are highly probable that it gets chipped etc where I live. But I’m noticing the diff types. I want one that doesn’t stick out as well and sits flush so it’s not so “out” if you know what I mean
