SMSP track night

Have decided to go for tracking in SMSP next week then following week as well. In addtion to bring helmet, wear comfort cloth, what else i need to do?

check tyre presure? i set my tyre pressure to be all 35psi but dealship changed it to be 40psi for rear ones.

what is the right pressure for tracking?

in terms of helmet, shall i wear open air version?

If you are running the standard 19 & 20in wheels and OEM tires the optimum pressures on a track are 37/38lbs for the front and 35/36lbs for the rear. These are hot pressures while on the track, not DD street pressures. Street pressures are 32lbs square. Before the first session of the morning adjust the pressures to @ 5/6lbs below the desired hot pressure. Immediately after returning from the track to your parking area adjust the pressures up or down to the target pressure. Do this after every session.

Flush and refill the brake system with high temp fluid.

You will be inside a car with a windshield. An open face helmet will be just fine. The choice is yours.

It’s great fun at SMSP. Hit me up when you go I need to go again

I run first few laps at 33psi and as the tyres heat up I let them down to around 34-35psi at 42degrees roughly. I’m no expert though

I don’t put parking break in between laps, leave it in neutral. Car doesn’t roll at SMSP but I watch closely and stay nearby, if you put your handbrake or park on it will have the pad pressed against the disc for the time you’re off the track. This can super heat the pad or warp the disc

They have helmets there, open face is fine

Speak to the guys running the event, they are super helpful.

The brake cooling ducts are blocked from factory by plastic covers. Turn your wheels to full lock and pop out the covers in the front wheel liners for better airflow and brake cooling.
