Remote Software Upgrade

Just received the message on my iDrive that a Remote Software Upgrade was available.

I downloaded the update onto my phone via the myBMW app as advised.

Download was seamless and took minimal time over my home wifi

Next time in car data transferred from phone to car automatically while driving. Will only transfer data while driving. This took around 30 minutes but you can stop the car and the transfer will restart when the car is next driving.

At completion of transfer you are asked if you want to start the upgrade. The car must be parked and ignition off for this to happen. Upgrade then took 20 minutes to complete. You can leave the car while updating. I chose to stay in the car just to see what happened.

Update was totally seamless. Haven't checked any features etc yet.

New software version is 11/2022.60

Notice any changes? My lci 23 m3 hasn’t yet and still is on 07/22

Can't get mine to work unfortunately. It downloads the update, but then refuses to acknowledge the Wifi connection (even though the phone is connected to the car via Wifi), and as such won't transfer to the car.

I have iDrive 7

Car was delivered August 2022

Haven't noticed any changes yet

The update is coming. Just slow to roll out. My BMW app sent me the notifcation that I have an update for my G82 on Tuesday, and has continued to send that notification every morning, but I haven't yet received a notification that it's been downloaded...- I'd give it a couple of weeks to come across.

Went on a bit of a long drive straight - 2-3hrs driving, and the update popped up to download and install.....
Try to go for a long drive...

This is the MOST overly technically complex and nonsensical program I have ever seen. Otherwise known in technical circles as "being German".

1. Why only download WHILE DRIVING? That's stupid.
2. At completion, it MAY or MAY NOT offer to install. WHY? (manual says if car is too hot it won't)
3. After mine downloaded and said "you will be notified when installation is possible" - when I came back to turn on the car - NOTHING. No update. Search for new update - "No remote software upgrade available".

Brilliant. When my Volvo is more straightforward than my BMW, that's CRAZY.

mine all happened pretty easy and smoothly, ive noticed no difference coming from 07/22 update.

Upgrade went smooth. Downloaded on the drive to work, pressed the option to upgrade whilst parked at work. Drove home with the new update. Only downside is that it over wrote all the BimmerCode changes I had made. All was reset to stock. A couple of personalised things that I had to redo as well.

The release notes for this seem to indicate changes (for our cars at least) are limited to digital key sharing features.

I won’t be updating primarily because of the pain around getting all my settings/coding back the way I like it.
