Agreed, the CTR is a phenomenal value for what you get. The chassis dynamics are great. The turn in bonkers for a car at this price, the LSD works great, the brakes are good. The biggest down side is the boy racer look and interior, but that's expected at this price level. FWD though |

the m3 lap time is mega when you look at the track it looks damp.
Perhaps the M xdrive will also improve the time further. Stolen from the comments: M3 43.9s A45 44.9s Civic Type R 47.1s (against the Yaris), 45.6s (this video) Alfa 44.4s M5 45.7s RS6 46s GTI 48.8s GR Yaris 47.9s Cayman GTS 45.9s Alpine A 110s 47.4s |

I'm pretty sure BMW has been doing better than average according to both Consumer Reports and JD power in regards to reliability the past few years. The poster does have a point when it comes to Toyota preserving their reliability image as almost all their vehicles have been using MPI until only recently. Even Mazda was utilizing DI technology 15 years ago. They are low tech, mediocre vehicles but they are dependable and to most consumers that's enough. We on enthusiast forums aren't most consumers so to me their vehicles just don't cut it. That said I would purchase a Yaris GR if they were available in this market as it reminds me of my old EVO's and STI's and looks like it would be a fantastic little city runabout.

In my 20s I drove an Integra Type R. Bought it new, kept it for 10 years. Only sold it when we had a daughter. Still, one of my favorite fun cars, and it held its value incredibly well too. Still, at the time, I wasn't cross-shopping it with an M3 because of FWD vs RWD.
