I will say the G8x certainly looks more modern than the F8x....I think that’s largely due to the slim and more detailed design of the lighting elements of the G8x, though.

It’s a controversial design for sure which got me thinking that despite all the negativity this car has received so far, it’ll probably leave quite an impression in person.

I think I can get past the way the car looks. Can’t get past the around 2 tons this thing will weigh.

Fully adjustable traction control...

I like M Traction Control for the street, but I only need one other setting besides On, and M... FULLY OFF.

You guys are gonna have to tell me how to get wealthy enough so I can get an M3 as soon as it comes out. In my opinion, it looks totally awesome, just in a different colour though.

Stop for a moment and appreciate what BMW has done here: in a time where we're invaded by a mentality of cars being gadgets on wheels (Elon Musk said it best yesterday during battery day: "think of a Tesla as a laptop on wheels"), and cars that are just marginally different from previous generations, BMW comes out with an in-your-face design, saying "we're not afraid to challenge the status quo". Very brave of them indeed. I totally dig it.

In these moments is when I'd love to be rich, because I'd give one M3 to each of my friends, as a recognition to BMW for being this bold with this new generation.

The entire presentation is nauseating. Flasch should have been the adult in the room and shut down whatever peter pans came up with this whole program.

If the screaming idiots, annoying background music, superficial q & a, and hype videography weren't indication enough, that full M performance model typifies their direction and target audience.

So Flasch confirmed that the black high gloss lower valence is standard and not optional. Well there is always the option of ordering black sapphire metallic to hide it should I dislike it IRL. Not sure what I think, I don’t mind it with the green paint on the M3 but with the yellow it looks odd.

I don't like that the black exterior trim pieces aren't an option if you want a manual

Respectfully disagree. This car is in fact closer to the competition now. Gone is the focus on low-ish weight, weight distribution, DCT uniqueness, high RPM redline. Sure, it's a correct statement that the styling may be 'loud' compared to others, but the actual mechanical uniqueness of the car is gone. Besides styling what really differentiates this from a RS5, C63, etc? Or hell, even the performance cross overs? This is no longer a Motorsports version of the 3 series, it's an 'expressionists' daily driver. If they really wanted to stand out in the crowd of the overweights, automatic transmissions, and cars with as many driving modes as possible, they would have also put emphasis on differentiating the actual driving experience and not just the styling. It's fine if this is appealing to people who put their #1 priority on different styling, I just need to accept that I am no longer in BMWs target market.

Most aggressive M design ever.
Interior and fit and finish looks amazing too. It looks like a more expensive car than it is, in and out.

I understand why some F80 owners are loosing it, and turning into haters. F80 looks ancient now.

It still has the perfect weight distribution, it’s the lightest in its class, and it has 7200 rpm redline which is the highest among competition as well.

It’s fashionable to create arguments on made-up facts these days. Who said they’re not focusing on driving experience? Even before driving it, pretty much everybody already know that this car will be the best in terms of handling, performance, lower weight, driving experience, and it has the best mass production 6 pot engine on the planet. The design is great, but it’s nowhere near the most significant differentiation from competition. It’s just the most visible at first glance. I mean you even put RS5 there... I hope you’re kidding. You can open the hood and see the engine placement, I don’t think you would need any further proof on how different these cars are.

These M3/M4 is so ugly that the money I saved up for this went towards a used Porsche 997.2 C2S instead and so happy with my decision. Don't get me wrong, my daily driver is an OG M2 but this will be my last BMW. I think!

Yeah, well tell that to every Turbo S owner that switched to a GT3. It may be better than everything on paper, but if the car doesn't invoke an emotion in you when driving it, then the driving experience 100% is subpar.

I don't have to drive this to know that the F80 (which I don't have anymore) will fee more raw (though I will still test drive it because why not). I don't care how impressive the numbers are, you cannot get around physics and 300-400 lbs more does not a better car make. I 100% expect this to feel as numb as the new M5 does compared to the E39, or hell even the F10.

Will it be capable? Hell yes. Will it be more capable then the F generation? Absolutely. Will it feel like a numb bloated shitbox (albeit fast shitbox) like an RS5 and and C63 do? I'm willing to bet good money it will.

I guess what I'm saying is that I didn't want another bloated GT wanna be car. I wanted something more akin to the spirit of my M2C (which is what I replaced my F80 with), but that ship has sailed for BMW and nearly every other manufacturer. I get it, and I accept it, doesn't mean I have to like it.

But, you know, opinions....

Can you really be proud of this abomination?

If I would be responsible for this, I would quit my job.

When your design is so blatantly criticized, you should make an introspection and admit it:

YOU AS A DESIGNER ARE A FAILURE!!!

Perfect weight distribution you say? Haha, no longer, it 54% front.

Lightest in its class you say, haha, the awd version will be about the same weight as my M5 Competition at 4,180 lbs
