I love my F80 but I hate to admit that while it's beautiful, it's starting to look a bit dated. The G80 looks modern and aggressive, and I thought I would never want one due to the beaver grill. But I am slowly starting to accept it. Don't think I'll ever love it, but I think most folks will get used to it after a while.

Watch this video starting from 5:10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJud8MEhntw

Holy Faq! That's crazy aggressive for a 4 door sedan. I was dead set on replacing my M3 with an M4 next, but now I'm thinking get the M3 again. I don't care what the haters say. That quad-center exhaust is just badass.

The carbon fibre seats look cool, but I’m betting you can’t get heated seats with those.

Not wanting to get into the controversy of the looks, but went on the BMW configurator (Belgium) and the 480 hp version was rated at 550 Nm, and the 510 hp Competition model was rated at 650 Nm.

Interesting that the S58 engine is 50 Nm lower and higher than the X3M and X3MC, respectively?

I'm not sure what to make of published HP and torque values anymore. It's long been felt that the F97/98's values are, for various potential reasons, understated in the official publications.

The objective basis to support that contention lies in the numerous independent dynos (granted those vary based on Mnfr, etc...), as well as the actual quarter mile and top-end Autobahn data which, when plugged into the sim, don't match BMW's claims.

In a post back in 2019 in the Qtr mile thread [ https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...7&postcount=49 ] I shared the acceleration curve using BMW's numbers and it fell way short of capturing Nate's 1/4 mile times. Only when I plugged in his dyno numbers (roughly 550HP and 500lb-ft torque) did it almost superimpose. Although just a rough construct, it has performed well on a number of different vehicles over the years. Also, the rated top speed of 177 mph could only be obtained with Nate's numbers, otherwise it maxed out at 172mph (and Autobahn videos confirm that isn't correct).

Finally, if you look at the graph of Wt/HP vs 0-60mph times I put together back in 2017 [ https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=15 ], it also doesn't make sense using BMW's numbers, which yields more in the 9.1lb/HP ratio which should give around 3.9-4.0sec 0-60mph times. If you use 550HP instead, that ratio becomes 8.4lbs/HP, which falls nicely into the 3.6-3.7sec range, a value we are seeing routinely. Personally I have formal 1/4mile documentation of that 3.6s during a verified drag strip run.

So personally I wouldn't place too much stock in the published data. We just need to wait for some to get these in the real world and run them as we all are with our F97/98 models.

I'm sure I will grow to like the new m3/m4, but for now I'm glad I didn't wait and got an X3M.

Should add Matt from carwow as well (more of a teaser though). He said the front looked good in person and much better in "M" than regular 4 series

Still waiting for a video from somebody I trust (Chris Harris or similar) driving this thing 'for real' on a track with the auto transmission.

"Real" reviews?

When will the real reviews start to hit? "Real" as in diving it on the track and testing their performance (lap times, 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc.). The reviews currently out there are pretty worthless, IMO (here's my 3 min analysis of the new grill, let me say what is already in the press release, etc.).

Will we have to wait until March 2021?

However, at other points of the video, it genuinely looks like the front rims/tires are smaller than the back (2:55 into the video). I guess it may just be an optical illusion and the massive front gap on the M3 makes the 20" rim/tire look small. Have no idea why he says the front has 19s though when the front tire is clearly a 20" tire. I wonder if there is an optional 20F and 21R tire pkg?
Yes, there's an option. Wheel model 1000M comes in 20f/21r configuration.

Depends when the press cars go out. Bmw will probably also embargo them to not share reviews until a pre determined date.
