One of my favorite features.
I love it. Super easy to use with just one button and it drives for you on those boring stretches of highway

Good point! Or, after just washing the car, I hate window streaks 😡

That I can set driver preference to keep the auto shutoff from happening at every stop light. What I mean is it stays off with no need to push the button every single time I get in the car. The genius told me this was not possible.

I finally used my windshield wiper squirter's and thought mine where broken since they didnt squirt the window like most cars do. It appears they only wet the blade as they wipe?

I did mine via configuring my M1/M2 buttons. Not sure if you can configure it through default settings, but for me I always drive in either M1 or M2.

Interesting. My ASS is off via the idrive settings and does not reset to back on when I start my car and keep it in comfort mode or any of my other mods for that matter.

Hah, I have yet to use mine, so I didn't realize. I like this a lot, depending on application. I remember getting rental Volvos for a while and they had special perforated wiper blade inserts that the washer fluid would sort of seep out of...meaning you're buying Volvo OEM wiper blades at Volvo OEM prices for the life of the car, probably. Wonder if the same is true for our Ms? I think the ideal would be a squirter on the wiper arm that didn't require a special blade or insert, I've seen that on a couple cars too.

The auto start stop was introduced in 2013 on F30’s. You had to shut it off every time you got in the car. The 2014 model and every model after changed it to where it was permanently off if you press that button. The genius clearly has no idea what they’re doing if they told you it was not possible. I used to manage BMW Genius’s before COVID so hearing this bad a misinformation is frustrating.

2011 and newer E9x M3s has it as well, just automatically disabled. Or at least mine was coded that way.

For non-M models, ASS defaults to activated every time the vehicle is restarted. Ditto for F9x models too, if I recall. For the G8x, ASS on/off selection is retained after the car is restarted and until the opposite selection is made.

So Geniuses may be unaware, by virtue of inexperience, that ASS operates differently in our cars than other current models.

I thought I posted this, but a quick scan of this thread shows otherwise. If I'm mistaken, apologies!

In the main iDrive screen, you normally get to the Apple Carplay screen by pressing up on the iDrive controller and selecting Carplay. You cannot assign this selection to a memory button.

However, if you go to the Apps page, there is a menu item for Apple Carplay that you CAN assign to a memory button.
