I have the v1g2 with JBV1 and Waze running in the background. There are a myriad of customizations with the JBV1 integration....

It has one, I never run any app and it’s fine. I had uniden R3 and it’s collecting dust I prefer the valentine.

There is v1 driver you can run with it. But I run Waze all the time and between the two it’s a very solid defense against radar.

I run the exact same setup, lol

Agree 100%!

I will mention for anyone considering it, the Fitcamx takes up a good bit more space so it’s a tight fit to get the blendmount on. It also limits the adjustment of the rear view mirror a fair amount, so if you’re very short or like to sit low be careful.

I've had unidens, and not a single ticket since using them. Had the lrd950, then r3, now the r4, and I chose them because the price (all under 400) was right and I won't be using all the added functions, apps, or download updates that some of the other brands come with. I can't even bring myself to adjust all the advanced settings on the r4, either; I just need something to warn me about speed traps.
With waze on the car, pretty secure motoring.

V1G2 here + Waze.

The V1 app does a really good job of muting false signals. It's noisy for the first couple days as it learns all the false alarms, but after that it does a great job.

So do you have to run the app every time you driving and you run waze as well?

Yep, only if you want false signals muted.

Ok I am just trying to underlogistically how that works. So you do CarPlay for Waze and then radar app as well via car play or it’s just automatic ?
Thanks

I got a quote for K40 360 with laser jammers and installation from a reputable interior customization company, but was $3400. I won’t be doing this but will be reading the thread.

I just pull up Waze on my Carplay so I'm viewing that map.

The Radar app is just running in the background on my phone, nothing to do with carplay.

A lot of people don't like having to start the V1 app every time, so many people get an old android phone that they just leave in their car that stays connected to the V1 at all times and gets data through your hotspot.

But not a big deal to me to spend the extra 5 seconds to start the app.

I think VortexRadar also rated the V1G2 as the overall better Radar than the R8 when paired with the app. If you don't want to deal with running an app in the background, get the R8.

There are pros and cons between the top models. I'm personally running the R8 because of the superior range.

As others have mentioned vortex radar on YouTube and Radar Forums are good places to do your research

No worries. He has a lot of detailed reviews including dashcameras, does his own testing as well. He also has state specific settings for all the models so you can fine tune your radar

Vortex Radar is the authoritative choice for pros and cons of all the major Radar Detectors. I made my choice based on their tests and reviews.

I have an R7 in both of my cars. The range is fantastic, and with auto-mute memory and quiet ride - it stays silent unless there is an actual threat close by.

I’ve heard the R8 is marginally better, but the case is larger so I haven’t bothered to upgrade.

I do like the design and build quality of the V1G2 a bit better, but functionally it’s far too limited without built-in GPS.

I run the JBV1 app and its set to launch automatically as soon as the V1G2 powers up. IMO JBV1 is clearly superior to the native Valentine app. JBV1 has GPS built in. I suspect Valentine hasn't really done anything with their app for a long time due to JBV1.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...US&gl=US&pli=1
