In the summer of 2000 I put down a deposit to get on the list for a new e46 M3. During that time I read almost all the publications like Car & Driver, Road & Track, MotorTrend etc. praising articles about the new M3.

One picture that fascinated me was the paint job on the concept M3, as I recall reading the paint was one off and had real silver flakes that cost 20K Pounds or Euros

Do you all remember it too and what do you know about it

They had same paint for F10 M5 too, only downside is. Nobody can repaint it if it needs a paint work

It could be but we are 15 years between the paints, ok a formula can be repeated.

I vividly remember the M3 paint had real silver flakes now I am thinking it may even have been pricier

There has got to be some more folks on the forum that can corroborate it

The 2 paints look obviously different to me I realize M3 is indoors at an auto show

Pure Metal silver is great, I've seen it in person and pictures don't do it justice, but I don't think I cold ever pull the trigger on it. The package price for the M5 was $36,800.00

Pure Metal silver just might be it the cost of paint is in line with what I remember from the e46 concept M3

I have seen a GT2 RS in this color in person. I thought it was a wrap because I was getting my PPF installed....but it wasn't. Checked the paint tag. Bonkers.

It is stunning but I personally would go with the Python Green Chromaflair if I had the option
