Anyone finance with NavyFed lately? If so, did anyone get anything remotely close to this?

Also, it looks like the $2500 continues through June 2nd.

I haven’t banked with Navy Federal for what seems like ages. This would be a reason to contact them though. Out of curiosity, have you tired USAA yet?

I haven't looked, although USAA is kinda on my shit list for multiple reasons. From auto loans to insurance, USAA has been absolutely bonkers. I have an 800+ credit score with extensive history, no accidents, no tickets, no weather claims, etc.

USAA has always tried to take me to the cleaners even when rates were super low. NavyFed and PenFed always beat USAA by a considerable margin. The last time I shopped USAA rates, they were 4.2% at 60, and PenFed gave me 2.3% for the same term. Before that, NavyFed gave me 3%, and USAA was at 5.5%... that was forever ago, but it's one of the reasons I don't look to them first.

Oh wow! Yeah I had the opposite experience. Left Navy Fed because they were too high on rates and switched to USAA.

Not sure if mentioned elsewhere, but I’m seeing 3.99% for 60 right now though BMW on new 2024 M4 model range. Likely due to clear out for LCI 25s, but good rate in this market!

That’s correct, only 2024 M4 range from what I can see. M3 is not included.

The rate is also applicable to the M8 line, but you would have to hate money to buy one of those new and not lease.

Has anyone considered balloon financing for an M3? Trying to get a sense of payments and rates.

If you're looking for BMWFS financing, that program is called BMW Select. I don't see any published rates for Select since 2022.

The first few Credit Unions I found that have balloon loans have rates "as low as" 7.5-8.5% depending on term. So just hypothetically:

If you take out a $100k loan for 48 months at 7.49% interest with a 42% balloon payment, your monthly payments would be $1,664.26. This is comprised of two parts:
  • $1,402.11/mo P&I on the $58k principal that is being paid down
  • $262.15/mo Interest on the $42k balloon payment.

At the end of the 4 year term, you will have paid $79,884.27 and still owe $42k on the car, which you can either pay off in a lump sum, or finance again at (typically higher) used car rates.

BMW finance app for select was showing 6.5% for an 85k msrp xdrive, $1221 for 60 months 28k ballon payment. A 840i at 104k for same rate was $1700 for 60 months with 32k balloon. Main takeaway for people going this route is to weigh the cost of this vs just leasing. You can always try to sell for whatever the principle plus the balloon payment is. Ideally you put 10k or so down to keep you from being horribly upside down on the loan.

Seems like the three year old m3/4 cars are priced around the 70k range now days. Just need to see more lease returns hit the market to really gage the market, but keep in mind the pandemic created a shortage of cars overall.
