Cars are being built in the same factory as the rest of the world, yet USA seems to get boned on access to the Individual Manufaktur options.

Has anyone successfully ordered a car with any of these interior options? Additional leather, custom color, etc.

Not sure on the leather colors apart from what is on the BMW configurator, but as far as exterior colors, lots of people have to my knowledge. I was able to get British Racing Green pretty easily, albeit you tack on a few weeks of build time to get it.

Other than exterior colors, i havent seen other options commonly reported in the G80 sections. If you are willing to wait and pay a fortunate, i am sure that BMW would build you the options you want. Someone quoted $15k for red deviated stitching in black leather.

One thing I would have tried to get if I didn't think it would be insanely expensive and delay my build by 9 months, would be to get the door on the lower dash upholstered so it matches the rest of the Full leather down there.

I'll likely just take it to a local upholstery shop and get it done for $150 or less.

that's the thing - for some reason BMW USA doesn't seem to even entertain those options. My friend in Europe was easily able to add interior options. I took his build sheet to the SM I've been dealing with, codes and everything, and USA doesn't want to play ball.

Now BMW NA doesn't want to entertain it or your dealership doesn't want to entertain it because that's 2 different things.

I've found BMW NA to be responsive to requests, but haven't tried any interior bits with the G80/82/83. Done it with the G20 when you could do things with the German builds. And no pushback from BMW NA.

Fair question - my dealer hasn’t done it before and if you read one of my other posts, ordered me the wrong car the first time. It’s a large east coast dealer.

However what they’re telling me is that it’s getting rejected at the regional rep level. I have a forwarded email with the guys name and it’s Tom.

If you’ve been successful with the G20 interior, care to fill me in on the process? I’ve sent the codes from the G20 section of the Individual Manufaktur catalog.

I reached out to my BMW rep and asked. Put forth some ideas the customer wanted for leather. Fiona (or maybe it was Kyalami) was rejected, but Fjord accepted. Filled out a preliminary form, 3+ week approval process then formalized.

Interesting that they would reject certain standard colors.

Now to the elusive Tartufo buckets - it’s specifically called out as not possible in the order sheet but would that be possible via the preliminary form?

it must have been Kyalami Orange as that was rejected as exclusive to the M3/M4. Fjord was no problem.

You aren't going to get Tartufo buckets as that's been denied many times.

Have they explained why they won’t approve them? It’s not like they’re an exclusive model option (like reserving Techno for Jahre). My buddy was able to get them approved in Europe for a fee.

You can order a jahre color for a non-jahre model.

Theirs are most likely a MY different than Jahres (which made specifically for MY23).
