The joys of being an early adopter...lol jk

I'm looking at 2022, a year after AWD launches, so I'm hoping another color or two has been added by then, preferably a silver.

I dont like SPY but other than that I think the color choices are better than with the earlier model. Many nice colors!

$5,500 based on prior models and probably delay it several months. My conern with getting an individual car is it wont get done before the AWD G8x goes into production in the summer.
Jeez that's more than the M5 individual! I'm waiting for the xdrive comp, so hopefully won't push the time too much by then.

Yes, that is risky for sure. I know you don't like IOM but For me it's currently a very interesting option. I love the ocean and it reminds me of the water a sunny day at a white sand tropical beach. Still not sure I'm able to live with the loudness of it though over a life cycle.
I think IOM is a perfect mix between loud and classy esp w silver wheels . Reminds me of classic matchbox cars for some reason but the metallic gives it a modern edge

All individual colors are around the $5k mark unless otherwise marked at the $1,950 price point. So even on an m5 a color that isn't normally offered will run $5k+

I see, that makes sense, thanks for the clarification

Anyone who has seen the San Marino Blue both gloss and Frozen on the M3 F80/F82 CS can agree that it is one of the most beautiful ///M colors. Velvet Blue is also very nice.

The new X5M has a similar Marina Bay Blue color. Of course, you can't get this color on an X3M.

These new G80/G82 color selections are a scam...forcing you to buy an individual color for an extra $5k. Interlagos Blue and Lemans Blue, plus Space Gray on an E9X M3 were standard colors for $550.

Isle of Mann Green is a nice British Racing Green alternative.

If you need a blazing SoCal Sun to see the blue in your paint, like Carbon Black and Tanzanite Blue, that means it will be black at nigh,t which defeats the point of getting a bright color. Portimao Blue is not so great Frozen. Portimao Blue might be too light a shade of blue...darker than Estoril Blue...but not San Marino Blue.

They seem to have gotten the colors right on the new M8s...

Cheers

The M8 has some gorgeous colors! Maybe I should just get one of those to save having to spend $5500 on individual paint for the M4.

Interlagos and Le Mans are really nothing special, Portimao is close enough and better than either IMO. Yes, it is lighter.

While I don't remember seeing the 2 blues in person, they both look like they are in the ballpark of Estoril blue on the non M current cars. I suppose the tanzanite is darker, but the other 2 look pretty darn close. If I'm going to pay M money I'd like a unique color like the YMB I have now.

Estoril

Portimao

Tanzanite

I'm settled on IoMG. Just not sure if interior color choices. Orange interior I would need to see or maybe tartufo? Just want something other than black.
Was really easy spec ing my Superman combo. This one is not easy.

For some reason I thought this M4 was coming out during the 3rd or 4th qtr of 2021, but since it's March/April I am going to wait til it becomes available and buy it new. I've seen the new design side by side in a video and I see personally love the new design language on the new generation M4. Factor in the manual trans and I'm sold.

This time you are getting a yellow that isn't snot colored, a red, a decent blue, and a green to go along with the usual grayscale.
First of all, how dare you :P

But for real, I wish BMW would just offer Imola Red. Is it too much to ask for a red M car? Toronto Red is so orangey.

And to answer OP's question, I think the color palate is pretty great. Only things I would change are Imola Red instead of Toronto, and San Marino Blue instead of Portimao. Interior choices look great too. I really like Kyalami Orange and the crazy Yas Marina Blue interiors.

Could be wrong but I don't think Toronto Red has any orange in it at all. It's just light red similar to Hellrot but metallic. I think it's a red base with silver metallic particles.

Is this color viewable, anywhere? I know it's a new color. I did a search, but getting BMW dealership in Brooklyn, with grey cars - like others have done.

Like you, I'm anxiously waiting to see this color in pics/videos and of course later on in person!

I loved SO the first time I saw it back in late June 2014. A month later I ordered mine in SO with the SO/black interior. I got delivery the following November, just before Thanksgiving. It's in my garage as I write this.

I love the color choices.

F8x didn’t have the best at the outset in my opinion.

Silverstone was nice and unique. Sakir Orange and Yas Marina...too polarizing. Same with Austin Yellow. And offering 2 whites...yawn.

Only thing i wish - why not offer an M exclusive blue rather than portimao? Atlantis, Avus, Interlagos, San Marino. Something.

IoM Green seems too close to teal for me, but I guarantee that color would get a ton of complements.
