I've been thinking this for a while. Especially with the color blue. The F cars literally had no non-individual, mid-shade blue option. Really good too see great colors, tough that it's on this car. Of course my F87 on order is a variant of burnt orange! Imo, one of the better M2C colors.

I rarely post here anymore but what a hideous car BMW has created, especially the front is a big fail.

Old thread but I had to get this out of my system. Say what you want about the grilles, the most unappealing design I've seen from BMW in any of my recent memory is the ugly seam where the grille surround meets the lip. Not only is it not visually appealing, it's a lazy solution for forming the base of the grille into the base of whatever you want to call the base of the front bumper. What were they thinking?!?!

I wouldn't be surprised that in a year or so the grill will grow on people. What won't grow on people is the amount that this thing weighs. Sold my E92 M3, bought a new 2020 Mustang GT and was biding my time until I see the G82, but this thing is heavier than my Mustang GT.

Interesting...my take was the opposite. I felt it highlighted to grille shape to NOT have them seamlessly blend in. I certainly can see your perspective. In fact, the first thing I want to see in person is precisely what you're referring to.

lol even the link to the picture you posted doesn't show the same 3 lines as the 4 series. Show me where on the 4 series there is a line that runs the length of the car above the door handles.

The 3 series also does not have a hard body line running through the middle of the doors - don't let different lighting fool you.

I attended the viewing of a G80 M3 Comp. IOMG & Kyalami Orange interior at my local dealership yesterday, and I was both reassured, and encouraged to order an M4 Comp. asap. Is everything about these cars absolutely perfect in my opinion? No, but no car ever has been, and fes up folks, it's been the same for you as well. For me the good far outweighs the "less than optimum" features about this car, and I will take one please in IOMG with sport seats in individual Tartufo.

Now onto something of possible interest to the rest of you who are thinking of buying one of these cars. The under hood pictures we have seen so far have all shown the strut bracing in 3 black painted metal pieces instead of the snazzy CFRP of the F series M's. This for me has been one of the "less than optimum" features I referred to above, and probably is to more than a few of you too. Well, in speaking with the BMW rep accompanying the car, he told me that these were used on the pre production vehicles, but that they will be replaced with CFRP parts in the production vehicles.

This is the first I have heard of this, and who knows for sure if this guy's info is correct. Sure would be nice if it is though. So my question is, has anyone else heard of this, or can any "insiders" verify it?

The official pictures in the OP are representative of the final product. To my knowledge, BMW has never installed any blatantly prototypical parts on vehicles expressly intended for official press photos. It is far more likely (and not uncommon, unfortunately) for the BMW representative to be mistaken, misinformed, or simply overly imaginative.

I've been super-curious about the strut brace too. I don't mind if it's as-above, but was surprised it wasn't the CFRP item we've seen recently.

Where did you recently see a CFRP item on a G8x?

it'll do 2.7-3.1s to 60 and run somewhere in the 10's for 1/4 mile I'm sure

M4 profile has a strong "What the Mustang could have been..." vibe.

Two tons of fun.

Agree - the interiors are spectacular.

But it'll be funny to see posts about "My G80 lightweight build."
There will be a few for sure.

I think this is partially because one no wants to buy an M8, at least according to recent actual sales and the fact they pulled that car in the states lol
