Drove an M4 6MT today
Hi guys
just came back from test driving the G82 M4 MT and I thought I 'll give you my impression I currently daily drive F90 M5C and have M3CS that I drive occasionally and have had several M cars in the past and actually drove the M3CS to the dealer for comparison also I am in mid fifties so my opinion is influenced by that Overall it reminded more of the M5 than the M3 in a good way steering feel is less artificial. F80 steering always felt unnecessarily heavy . car felt more collected and less twitchy as compared to F80 . In particular when compared to my 2015 F80 Size felt the same regular seats were as supportive not worse or better. Car did not have CF seats engine power felt more linear and less jumpy , but overall did not feel faster than CS handling was slightly better. car may be felt a little heavier , but I think that what made the car less twitchy MT was good . No first to second gear notch as compared to my E92 M3 rev match was good suspicion was good, by no means harsh I test drove X3MC last year and felt the suspension was harsher interior is way nicer Engine sound from inside is better |

Also, steering feel of the G82 is less artificial than which F80? For reference, pls share how you compare the F80CS and 2015 F80? And the reason for your driving the F90 on a daily basis vs F80 CS occasionally- cos you prefer the F90's drive vs the F80CS? edit: pls share also how the E92 compares. Good to have your views with your wide repertoire of recent Ms.

I'm very curious-how much slower does your M3 CS feel (in a straight line) than the F90? Am considering a G82 M4 CS but I just worry that the M5's acceleration has spoiled me and I will feel underwhelmed by the upcoming CS's acceleration. |

I had a 2016 base F80 and hated the steering feel. I also have an F80 CS, which has incredible handling and doesn't even feel like the same chassis. It's great to hear the G80 is an improvement upon the F80 CS handling!
I wouldn't expect the base G80 in 6MT to "feel faster" than our CS. I would expect it to be a lateral move, which I am totally fine with. Any other observations on the 6MT? Thank you.

I actually owned three F80
2015 non comp 2018 C and the current CS F90 acceleration and speed in straight line is certainly at a different level than the F80 still in the CS the steering feels heavy , as I said earlier I drove the CS to the dealer , so it was back to back comparison G80 acceleration is more linear and less spiky but I remember when I went from E92 to F80 , the F80 on initial drive felt way faster and in this case I did not feel much if any difference the CS vs base F80 is a big difference as far as steering accuracy because of suspension tweaks and staggered set up on tires but the steering still feels heavier than what is should be in both cars MT transmission is good , similar to M2 which I had but nothing special.Nothing compared to like a Porsche GT car, but again it is good enough it might be a surprise what I am going to say , but I did not love the E92 M3 . I liked it but not loved it it was heavy , engine was less torque at lower RPM , and first to second gear was notchy , so it made suburban driving less engaging because you don't have the space to open it up and get to third and fourth gear high rpm range when I sold the E92, I bought a C63 2010 and I remember I was smiling ear to ear all the time despite the fact that overall the car was inferior to E92 mostly bad transmission, and worse steering .. |

its really sometimes unbelievable how different people feel about same cars. For me the M3 CS is the best M-car I ever have driven and easily in top3 of all cars I ever have driven. In comparison to the F90 for me the M5 wins only in interior. Everything else is better in the CS, transmission, steering, rawness, road feeling, exhaust note. Imho. If you want a gentlemans car, the F90 is a good choice. If you want a sportscar, you choose the M3 CS.
I envy M3PGH that he has those cars in the garage. If I would have those, I would probably choose the M5 only when I need more space in the backseats. Otherwise every day M3 CS. The last time I drove the M5 I could have driven it for 2 hours. I returned it after half an hour, since nothing was different than the earlier experiences with that car. I was happy to sit in my F80 Comp again. |

I suspect a competition G8X with 8 gears and the full TQ and 510hp will feel significantly stronger than any stock S55, especially at top end. |

my M3 CS is dct
Also I was clear at the beginning about my age affecting my overall impression because our taste in cars changes with age I agree also that one test drive is not enough and my impression of some cars have changed after additional test drives or after ownership also we as human beings have different taste in cars and other things in life |

With that as reference, the G8X competition should feel way stronger than the F80CS and the G8X base/6MT feel a lot quicker than any F8X 6MT. |

The CS sounds more organic than the F90. The F90 does rev out pretty high and has a high pitched howl at the top end but it just sounds synthetic. And that's not helped by the speaker engine sounds which the CS doesn't have. But of course, there's no way you're gonna enjoy the full sound experience with the windows up anyways. You just don't get much of a "natural" V8 sound experience with the F90-a Jag V8 SC is far superior sound wise. But that's just the price you pay when you slap turbos on for that ridiculous acceleration.
