I saw a Ferrari last night with a matte “frozen” black finish on it. Don’t know if it was paint or a wrap. It looked super clean like it just came out of detailing, but man the 20 bugs splattered in the front stuck out like a sore thumb.

My sense is that unless frozen paint is kept clean and in perfect shape it can look like hammered dog poop. Might be great for a weekend car show ride, but horrible for a DD.

Among auto enthusiasts, a brown manual station wagon is supposed to be some kind of holy grail. I find traditional brown to be a little boring, but DG and its copper undertones offer whispers of that color in a much more interesting fashion...
I dream of a brown 911.

You are right. One of the things that attracted me to DG was the brown, copper, and olive tones.

Mine might get dropped off at the delearship today, I gotta run over there now and see if there is a truck out back!

Don't paint your seats, that's gross. Instead, you should do the classy thing and cover them

Ok...had the pleasure of seeing a Dravit Grey M3 Comp this weekend in person. Wow, those copper/olive tones in the sunlight were really a sight to see in person. It appeared as a charcoal or dark grey when viewing it without the light. Really nice to see the different viewing perspectives this paint gives based on lighting conditions.

I think this is the build I now want after seeing that thing in the sunlight.

This also kind of helped to seal the deal on the build.

Congrats man! I think our builds are almost identical!

Full Silverstone looks sooo good with Dravit.

I felt the same about Dravit; wasn't sure what to expect because it's so dynamic. I love how it's different in the light vs dark. Pictures helped; but seeing it in person sold it. If I didn't do this, I'd want individual and that's an even longer wait.

Oh man, I'm simultaneously jealous of your four-week holiday, and extremely sympathetic you will be tortured during that entire stint waiting for delivery.

Amazing. Thanks for sharing that JDUNITNOW!
In that second pic, near the fuel door...that's what hooked me. Those copper/olive colors are at the right light and angles.

BTW...stock height and no spacers or it does have some work done in that area?

Thanks again!

Thank you and lowered on MSS with 18mm front and 15mm on back on this picture. At first I had 15/13 but after lowering, I wanted more stance.

It's all subjective, I get that. But, I personally love that look on yours. Are you happy with the drop/spacers? Any concerns or regrets? I guess I'm asking is, would you do it all over again?

I'm just a little leery on messing with the stock suspension and don't want to hear noises that weren't there with the stock suspension.

Thanks in advance for the reply.

First, I love the way it looks now especially with the 18/15 setup. With the MSS suspension, it handles lime it's on rails more now than ever. My issue I'm having is the noises it's making with the new setup. Right now I don't want to put the blame on MSS because there are more people on this forum that are happy with MSS. My installer, a BMW tech and the only person I allow to work on all of my BMW'S is very capable and very skilled, has not fixes the issue which is why I have a suspension specialist look at it this week. If he can't get rid of the noise, I'm going back to oem.
I don't want to, believe me but I don't want to hear those noises in a 80k car.

Agreed, I wish it had been available when I ordered. Counterintuitive but brown tones look amazing with gray.

Just arrived at the dealership tonight. DG over Tartufo.

Hopefully this adds to the “different shades of Dravit Grey” collection. And I have no idea why some of them ended up rotated 90 degrees….

It goes from almost black, to dark grey olive tones in the second pic, to battleship grey with the flakes, to a nice medium grey.

I absolutely love it.

We take it home tomorrow, then it goes in for full detail, PPF, and ceramic. I will take more pics tomorrow and certainly after the detail.

Some greys trend toward blue, some trend toward brown.

Gunmetal II trends toward blue. I would choose a black or white interior.

Dravit Grey trends toward brown (olive, copper, etc.). I chose Tartufo.

And Tartufo trends toward a tobacco saddle color, which is nearer to orange than chocolate.

Incredible! Hard to believe those are all the same color/car.

I generally agree, but unfortunately Tartufo wasn't available with the carbon buckets, and I couldn't pass up on those. I considered KO, but I thought it would be too much and I'd get tired of it, so I opted for the Silverstone. Given all the other black inside the car, I think it'll work, but no argument that Tartufo is classically beautiful.

Yeah personal preference and limited choices. I have always been partial to a more classic tan interior, but that wasn’t available and probably wouldn’t have worked with DG. I am sure I will love Tartufo.

It’s hard to believe I am posting my car in this thread! I recall first reading it and agonizing over color choices — until I saw a DG M3 in person, and then it was game over!

I think that DG is always going to surprise me with how it looks. A very understated color, with very subtle nuances to it. Yet it is very complex and interesting.

Another Dravit / Silverstone being crafted

Looks like it's really happening. Ordered end of Dec, allocation in March(?). Once they start assembling the body it feels real!

Build

2023 M3 -- 6 spd manual (Originally a '22..not sure I like the dash on the '23's as much but I can probably get over that)
Dravit
Silverstone carbon buckets
Carbon interior
826M black wheels
Blue calipers --- but I don't think that's a '23 option so who knows what I will get.
Carbon exterior package
Shadowline
Laser lights
Sunroof (no carbon..)
Executive Pkg

I think that's it.
