Can you elaborate on this, after reading your comment yesterday I did research the topic and I read some Lexus guys having to use a computer with an old school software but also read about Gulia guys bleeding without any problem if they don't go lower than min level.

Of course if you want to replace all 100% you need special computer tools but a regular bleed seemed to be possible.

I am used to replace fluid for track use myself and this is something I am wondering if I will still be capable of doing on my upcoming M3.

I don't have direct experience with this, but I've heard that cars with "brake by wire" systems--like this one, and the Alfa Giulia, and the Chevrolet Corvette, just to name a few--can't be bled via the traditional method of opening the bleeder and simply pumping the pedal.

Since the system is moving fluid and generating pressure via a pump (not from a traditional master cylinder) this means that in order to bleed you need a computer to cycle the pump. The dealers will obviously have this capability, but I'm not sure how easy it will be for shade tree mechanics to perform this operation.

Update (for those who care to know)....

My dealership just emailed me and told me they would be able to arrange having my blue calipers powder coated black by a third party vendor.....this is what i was hoping wouldnt happen 🙁.... i asked him if there was anyway i can just wait for black calipers to come in from bmw and then have them swapped out....havent heard back yet but i doubt theyll do that especially since its a no cost option....lets see what he says. 🤞🏼

Take the car back to the dealer park it there and hand them the keys. Point to what you ordered on the sheet. I hate the stealers.

Sorry if this got mentioned in the thread already, but you really should call BMWUSA and request they facilitate sending the appropriate calipers to your dealership.

It's on your order sheet, it's more on BMW to make this right vs the dealership. It's amazing what you can do when you call and complain to corporate

That being said, I'm surprised your dealer wouldn't just say "yup we will order the correct parts and swap them" instead of sending off to a 3rd party. I wouldn't be happy with that response either. Is this your first car from them? If it is, I'd be looking for another dealer for a better service experience.

Bummer you have to deal with this but definitely don't settle for less than what you ordered. The fact it is a non-charge piece of the order is irrelevant.

Good luck 👍

Sooo.....just got another email and they explained how sensitive this brake by wire system is and they didnt think throwing a wrench at something that was mechanically perfect was the best option...on one hand im like the blue isnt all that bad but on the other im like maybe theyll even let me color them a different color ?...if thats possible, what other colors do u guys think would work?....so far i came up with silver/dark yellow/ or even white maybe....heres pics they sent me of before and after of an employee whi got his done at the same vendor.

I'm sorry but the fronts are not the same calipers...

If I were you and accept the paint by the dealer I would have them written a warranty on caliper paint that is the same length as the original car warranty.

Caliper color if very subjective, on a green car I think my 1st choice would be black but I understand that you get a choice that would not exist normally... But personnaly with a green I don't see anything better that black..

My car is IOMG and I have red calipers and I think it looks really good. I don't know if IOMG calipers would look all that great. I think some sort of grey would look good. Bronze would look good as well

I would just give them the car back if the black calipers are important to you. This is a 75-85k car, and should be perfect. I wouldn't take a chance with the powdercoat or swap out based on what they are saying.

They can either eat the cost of the car and re-sell it to someone else while you wait for a new one from the factory, or compensate you in some other way - ie carbon fiber bits installed.

Personally, I do think both the blue and red caliper contrast looks better than black, but you should get what you like, no second thoughts.

Call BMWNA and tell them what's up. The dealership should solve this problem with an OEM replacement, not a paint job. If you're considering letting them paint them another color to make this right, then more fool you.

I totally get your point. I declined having any third party vendor powdercoat the calipers. They did, however, apologize and offered to send me a check for one month payment.

Take your check for the hassle, but still call BMW corporate. Your build sheet no longer matches what is actually on your car and this could impact resale value.

Unfortunately they are clearly NOT going to powder coat the calipers, they are going to simply spray paint them.
To have the calipers powder coated they need to be removed, disassembled & stripped, even to paint them correctly they should be removed but those pictures clearly show they have simply been painted whilst on the car (there is overspray all over the pads) pretty crappy job too imo.
If it were me I'd definitely turn down any monetary offer they throw at you & hold out for new/correct replacement calipers, the dealer is just looking for a cheap & nasty way out for their mistake. No offense but if you think that shitty paint job they are offering you will hold up like the oem finish your delusional.
Best of luck & dont be swayed by offers of a few lousy dollars.

Well is not what they "can" do, it's what they should do. I'd not take powder coated calipers on a $80K brand new car. I'd only ask and expect a OEM Swap or some form of $$$ compensation.

Simply call BMWNA. Full stop. It's the factories issue and the dealer is beating around the bush. If they won't fix it and put the calipers on order, another dealership will at Bmw's request.

Dude - there have been a lot of people suggesting to call BMW directly. Have you tried that yet?

Please let us know. The dealership is wasting your time!

I've had much better luck contacting BMW directly with issues with several cars in the past and seemed to get better results than my dealer was getting, even though you'd think the dealer would have more power.

I agree with this.

With the all black 826 rim the blue contrasts much better. The black almost becomes part of the rim.

For your Isle of Man the best color IMO is the blue. Black gets hidden, red kind of clashes with the green, although another guy posted a pic of that combo that was actually nice.

Blue really is the way to go - obviously they made a mistake so take advantage of the situation. Instead of painting the calipers something else when its already quite nice, ask them for some BMW gear and accessories instead.

Maybe some all weather mats, car covers etc.
