Both cars were impressive in their own rights.... I really am pleased on how our G8X's launch with RWD only.

I wonder how a JB4 car would fare against is much more stout older brother (tuned one here with turbos etc)?

And once again Mani gets a pre release LOL.

Clearly the G80 could easily be tuned to deliver more power but what is the point if you end up with poor traction.

I think they've really nailed it with the G80 the way you have 500 on tap that you can actually put down

This race was completely unplanned. We took both our G80 and F80 and the car the G80 was meant to race didn't turn up so we thought it would be fun to pitch these together.

G80 puts its power down so well.

It was a while ago...I think it was a Mustang of some description. Was powerful and RWD whatever it was.

on the track the f8x struggles terribly putting the power down with its low end power band design from the factory - this will never change.. not at 444hp nor 1000hp.
I have a simple 91oct tune (GTS) and still out of the hole the traction light keeps flashing as I row through the gears while GT350s, vettes fly by me .. and this is with 305 200 TW tires on the rear.

If you're considering whether to spend 20k-30k upgrading your F80 to 700hp versus buying a g80 that can actually uses its 500hp properly.. please make the right choice

Are you boosting by gear? Or have your tuner give you less toque down low? If you car is at 700, I'm assuming whoever did all the wok can help you a little bit. RWD BLOWS!! LOL

I thought I recognized your super clean G80 in the "Oxide Gray" color I believe. Was right (on the color)... ?

So a vehicle that can put the power to the ground in stock form, versus a modified higher power vehicle that hasn’t been tuned to compensate for the additional torque.
Great comparison 🙄

I'm starting to wonder what the difference between the two would look like in a race, stock or modified. Now that the RWD models can do a 2nd gear launch control I'm not sure how much better it would be to do a 1st gear launch in AWD form. Obviously it "should" be better but by how much? Also, what about differences in lap times?

A little wheel slippage and gear shift chirps are less fast but more fun.

As someone who had a hard time insuring even a stock M4 (even harder because technically it had dealer installed M Performance parts which many insurers regard as mods), are these tuned vehicles not a complete nightmare to find good cover for, or at least reasonably priced cover? I can just imagine the call now:

Insurance customer service agent: Any modifications to the vehicle?
Me: Err…

I know there are speciality insurers but I only found one in which I had any confidence of a payout should my car vanish. And all were super pricey.

Presumably it goes with territory but it puts me off so much as adding spacers to my car.

Great race!

That F80 really nails it home in the styling department though.... G80 not so much, but then again that's beating a dead horse. :P

I'm running 285 Cup 2s and I have no issues with traction on the GTS tune. What tires are you running?

The AWD version is going to embarrass many cars in the near future. From a dig this car is smoking others from a stand still in 2nd gear. The true potential of the G80 has only begun to unfold.
