Kids or pets in the car that need heat or AC or more commonly, if I need to pick something up from a store that takes 30-60 seconds. Less wear to leave the car compared to turning it off and back on. While it's running, locking it prevents theft even if it's not a significant issue where I live.

The E92 will lock while running with no horns, chrips, or beeps.

My first car had absolutely none of these issues.

It also had crank windows. We used keys to unlock the car and to start the car. Different keys, actually. The infotainment system consisted of an AM radio with one speaker. There was no BT because there was nothing like a cell phone. Heck, we didn't even have wireless phones in the house.

There were no personalization options beyond moving the manually adjusted seat fore and aft. That was all. No up, down, lumbar, side bolsters, head restraint, nothing.
Must have been a luxury horse if it came with a speaker. What did you name it?

Throwing carrots at it counts as remote start and I'm sure if you called it's name several times, the drive recorder feature would kick in to bring it closer to you.

the pause is only if your M setting changes anything with traction control, ex. MDM.

Yes of course but that’s been a thing for many years across multiple models. Up until idrive 8 it has always accepted a double click. Idrive 8 introduced the required delay before the confirmation click is accepted.

Nothing like getting gas and having your car beep, lock and mirrors fold 4 times because you moved 5'.

And can you have the radio turn the hell off when you turn the car off? Once again looking like some D-Bag getting gas or parking your car. Stupid radio playing for no reason.

Rant partially over.
I wonder if there is a way to disable it through coding. I don't have extensive coding experience but from what I gather there are a lot of things that can be changed or adjusted.

There’s no spot to put your key. Unless you open the center cubby.

And another thing. Why did they get rid of rear heated seats?

100%. No reason this can’t be fixed with software update in Idrive8.

They made it a second click in iDrive8. Only 1 click in iDrive7 but it should let you get that view as optional in the M button setup IMO. I know you can buy a cable to fix this but should be a piece of cake to a software dev.

m1/m2 settings which require confirmation due to MDM/TC-OFF now forces a 2 second delay between clicks, can no longer just double-click the button.

Zero text message preview in motion, not even the 1st line, just says "new message" now. Trying to increase safety but actually causes more distraction.
Latest software update fixes the m1/m2 button delay, it’s now a quick double click.

I put mine in the grip to close the door in the door card arm rest. It has a bottom so the key doesn’t fall through.

Maybe it’s me but could have sworn there is an extra click with my M4 iDrive8 vs my X3 with iDrive7. My memory sucks so might be me😂

You probably didnt have MDM mode or TC off in your M setting. If you keep stock TC on, its one press. If you have MDM mode or TC off, its two presses.

Yeah, good idea. I did notice they added a bottom to the hand grab.
