All the E46 & E90 users should go back to their section to troll around.

Looks like the tide is definitely turning. Seeing more and more people warming up to the new design. I, myself, need more time but....

The car is absolutely stunning. I have been one of the biggest critics of the front end, I've made numerous comments about it across various different forums. The front end looks on-point. The car is not ostentatious whatsoever. The design is extremely sophisticated, yet completely distinct. You will not be able to mistake this for an M340i or an M340i for an M3. Literally every single panel is different. Super aggressive yet subtle at the same time. That seems impossible in theory but they've pulled it off.

The car I saw was Isle of Man Green exterior with South Africa Orange Interior.
The combo really works. The shade of green is perfect, and the new orange looks elegant.

-CS style hood except it has dual vents instead of a single vent and no power dome
-Striking side profile. It was never this distinct in previous model
-Super aggressive rear and front ends
-Overall the car has an extreme amount of "aero stuff" lots of lines....
-Interior quality is truly next level (This car appeared to have the full-merino option) Not sure if that'll be the case on the standard car
-If it were my guess, this was probably a high MSRP build.
-The grills, side vents, badges were all blacked out.
-The grill looks perfect

In my opinion it looks better than all previous M3s. This is going to be a game changer. BMW is no doubt going to sell a ton of these. Can't wait to see how it drives.

I wish I went to Monticello as well; as I would've gotten the opportunity to see the M4.

BMW has made this M3 a highly distinguishable car. As I said before, you will absolutely not be able to mistake this for an M340 or an standard 3 series. The M340i looks like a very tame car in comparison.
In this segment, no other car has this amount of insane road presence.

I want one. As you all know this is super ironic since I've made a joke about the front grill on pretty much every other thread.

I saw them in person for the first time yesterday at the dealer...

It pains me to say it, but they do indeed come across much better in person. I don't hate it anymore...

For clarity some of the 'Grille talk' posts/threads previously extant in other forum sections (i.e., E9x M3, etc.) have been merged with this thread.

The logic behind this is that G8x discussions outside of a versus/comparison thread comparing two models in the relevant sections would be G80-related and would be considered off-topic to their respective forum sections for that platform.

We are not encouraging soapboxing by any means but if there were a place to discuss the controversial Grilles that are continuing to be a dominant topic, then this would be the thread to do it.

This thread is good. It's the honey pot thread to lure all the haters and keep the others clean.

I for one am disappointed about the design as I grew up in the eighties and fell in love w BMW's when seeing them up in Cape Cod, around country clubs etc. they were the preppie's choice.

My cousin got her first job out of college as an analyst at Chemical Bank and bought a white e30 convertible. It symbolized success and youth. You know all the yuppie trends encapsulated in a car. I loved that car!

My first car after getting a job was a 325i and after several years moved to an e92 M3 and leased an f82 M4 and refreshed w a Comp M4. It still had a thing about it but that glow had faded as trends change. What's a successful image now? Sweatpants, crocs and hopping out of a lambo?

The new G series erased any and all of the feelings I had for BMW when I was young. That's not a bad thing as they'll sell a boatload. It's just different now. Oh wellz

You don't speak for the faithful, you speak for yourself. I have been an M3 die hard since the E36 came out when I was in high school and I can't wait for my G80. I don't speak for the faithful, I speak for myself as well to be clear.

How someone can be attacked for a subjective opinion is insane.

That's like when people criticize someone's taste in music:

"hey you know those sounds your ear likes? Those are the wrong sounds."

Exactly! Some people presumed they spoke for the "M3 faithful" when they were upset about the E46.......claiming BMW was dead to them for building that porker.

The grille is hideous. I like what BMW has done with the rest of the car, but the grille kills it for me. I see folks driving the new 3 series around my town and I can't help but chuckle every time I see that buck-toothed grille.

First up, I have to disclose that seeing so many of the launch photos and some of the video reviews, I lamented the design decision of the G80/G82. I am a dinosaur and I love the designs of old

BUT, today I went to see a G82 (M4 Competition) in person and this is when things started to change for me in terms of my opinion of it. In person, it does not actually look too bad. It's very wide, super aggressive and well, those kidney grilles are what they are. It all adds to that aggressive look.

As has been mentioned by others, maybe as more of these are seen on the road, fans may start to warm to them. Time will tell I guess.

I really do think that the photos and video's really do not show the car in the best light in my opinion. For me, it certainly warmed my opinion of it when seeing it in person.

Really a nice color IRL, what I wish Hockenheim was tbh

Also, I wonder if BMW will keep the name for long at risk of being associated with... let's say an internet media celebrity

The E46 was seen as a porker ? LOL
Of any of the past cars, the E46 was the most svelte
Good luck with new car, sincerely!
