Firstly, did they replace the bumper with a new one? If not how did they repair the hole? Secondly, if they repaired the original did they respray color on the whole bumper or just the repaired area? Either way you’re going to end up with different looking texture in the paint but if they resprayed the whole bumper with color how much time did they spend color matching? Bumpers never match 100 percent to body cause they are different materials (plastic vs metal) but a diff shade/color of front vs rear bumper to metal would drive me crazy on a brand new car
Looks perfectly fine from the photos posted. No need to get all dramatic

$5-10k discount is absurd. All of you thinking that’s fair need to come back to Earth. Dealer fixed it and made it right. Take the car or order another if it’s past your tolerance and move on with life.

This is nothing. Dealership tech crashed my first ordered car and ran over their coworker. Talk about a story…

It would never be a “used” car replacing a write off, the difference is instead of getting paid out a value (which might not cover the cost of a new vehicle as prices go up), they purchase a new like-for-like vehicle irrespective of the agreed or market values.

In this case, judging by the photos, it would be more of a hassle to replace the bumper, than to repair it, because of reasons that you mentioned, color match to the fender/hood, etc. The repair shop probably just did a plastic weld, blended the color in the repair area and cleared the rest of the bumper. You can tell, as they didn't remove the corner reflector. It is masked off in the picture and there is no color on the tape. And yes, BMW plastic color match is horrible. Compare the mirrors, door handles, bumpers, to the metal panels of the car, they do not match.

It wouldn't hurt to ask for a small discount. The worst is they'll decline and say no, and yes 5-10K is ridiculous. Some of these posters must be a menace at the car dealership.

One would be naive to think that a lot of vehicles don't sustain some type of minor damages, during transit, whether it be scratches, dents, etc. The dealership isn't even required to disclose minor damages before they are repaired, it's just that in this case, the OP knew about it through the photos. This happens all the time and the vehicles are repaired and sold without anyone knowing. The vehicle paint is still covered under warranty.

That was what I meant. But I should have stated more clearly that the purpose of the 'replacement' clause is to get that cash value of a similar new vehicle vs that of a similar used vehicle. Depreciation as the vehicle is driven off the dealer lot can be very high if a day old vehicle is totaled in a bad crash. I think after the 2 year term of the clause it is a lot easier to absorb depreciation.

I'm definitely with you - but you have to be honest, it's a bit of suspicious comment coming from a user that has "fix" in the user name

Not being dramatic. Ultimately, it’s up to the OP whether this is in the tolerance level but how many people have bought cars that looked fine in pictures and turned out not to be? Saying it looks fine without seeing how the paint is represented against the rest of the car is a reach.

However, I think they colored that damaged area and just recleared the entire bumper, still I bet I could find imperfections that weren’t there from factory. Paint nibs and such.

If I’m spending 1500+ a month or whatever rates are today, I wouldn’t be dramatic, I’d just want to make sure the repair met my expectation or I simply wouldn’t take delivery of the car. OP asked for opinions, not everyone has had experiences with body shops and poor paint repairs, etc- just providing the questions I would personally ask.

Hope they’re happy and took delivery and all is well

Anybody who doesn't think these things happen all the time should search youtube for roro ship unloading. Here's an example:

The drivers work long shifts and are not the highest-paid guys around.

It's kind of remarkable there isn't more damage.

Recently purchased an M3 CS in the U.K and it was damaged when their colleague tried to buff out a surface scratch on collection day. He went straight though the paint with the polisher lol.

Got given free winter matt pack and also some free flasks lol.

I was happy with that, didn’t pick it up on collection day and they offered to drop it off, but made the journey back a few days later to pick it up and all was good. Was like it was never there with the respray.

Glad they fixed it! I wouldn't be too upset about it as long as it's a perfect paint match. And I wouldn't have the dealer do PPF - they do a terrible job usually.

So Florida lacks mental illness LOL???????? Hit the news plenty there as well. Ratty car dealers do not worry about state-lines from what I see in the USA on this forum. Bad dealers are everywhere it seems.

Do you mind my asking why you ordered a vehicle from Endicott NY when you live in Florida? I used to purchase my Saabs from a dealership in Endicott NY but live 45 minutes away.

I can't imagine that you couldn't have found an allocation closer to home. I had to drive 2 hours to get my M4 in 3 months and I thought that was far.

Have you made a decision as how you will handle your situation?
