🤮 AMG thinks of itself as F1 lite, and it may be apart from the sheer mass … but in reality is trying to compete with Tesla and failing miserably to provide a thrilling driving experience like they used to, at least since they provided cars that could handle properly with decent transmissions with the W212 which wasn't that long ago. This is a sad turn of events for AMG, but they don't sell enough electrics and hybrids to hit their MPG targets. Mercedes is dying off where I live - maybe it's just be supply chain.

I appreciate the civil-ness of of your response! Don't get that often with that hot take LOL

I agree with you that the AMG 4.0 sounds better than the S58, but I believe it's my bias of owning the 6.2 that makes me not like it as much. I'll take it over a lot of other v8 tones nowadays (looking at you mustang v8 wobble noise). But, that 6.2 has a very special place in my heart that the 4.0 doesn't fill all the way.

At first I was like WOW, 680 hp, this is going to be insane

Then, 4600 lbs! heavier than my X3M (which is why I am trading it in for a M3C xdrive). Granted an all-electric would probably be 5,000 lbs
Any car doing 0-60 in under 3.5 seconds is "fast enough" so it then comes down to handling/control/fun to drive, I think the new C63 will miss on all those and WHY IS IT CALLED THE C63 still? C20E is more like it

They are really pushing that inline 4 to extremes at 480 hp which means long term issues, and as others have said how long will that electric motor be good for? pain in the ass charging and still having to get gas

All that and this will probably be $100,000 for an inline 4, Ill keep my M3 order (and I am a previous C63 6.3L owner).

I think they either go all in electric on these to compete with Tesla 3 or stick with gas like BMW (probably why BMW extended production run on M3/M4 while they figure out what they want to do).

They should have a "6.2L exhaust upgrade" option. Hell, take a page from BMW's playbook and make it a monthly subscription.

W204 was peak C63 imo.

If I cared less about driving dynamics I would consider one. Weight + 4 cylinder exhaust note are the biggest downsides for me

Perfect description. All recent mercs have looked like they melted in the sun too long. So droopy and a design that is clearly intended to appeal to an east Asian consumer.
