That’s awesome. Post some draggy times please. I’m excited to see it. I especially would love to see 0 to 60 times. Do you have xdrive? I’d also love to see some dyno numbers.
I do have Xdrive. Will post numbers next week I believe

DMEs are coded to your specific car. A copy of your original DME needs to be recreated, and sent to Femto. And the DMEs aren't even G80/G82 DMEs. They're pre July 2021 X3 ///M DMEs.

I just called them and they quoted me at 2500 for the unlock and tune , which is not a bad deal but the turn around time is about a month and they don’t give you a spare ecu in the mean time

You still keep the original not tuned ECU of which you can put back in the car anytime. In essence you now have two ECUs. One cloned and tuned and the other original and not tuned. This all cost around 6K. This shop also says that not too far in the distant future they will be able to unlock the ECU locally. Please keep smart ass remarks to this claim including from competitors of this shop to a minimum. Constructive, informative and accurate remarks are fine.
The events of swapping ECU's back and forth, will BMW notice if they dig deep enough? For example if catastrophic engine failure occurs, I would think that would cause them to do this.

This may be a stupid question but if a clone ecu tune costs 6k and no clone costs $4k, is it fair to say that you are basically paying $2k to maintain your warranty? Or is an ecu tune still detectable even when a clone
Was used and original ecu was reinstalled prior to warranty claim?

Also once you swap the ecu, how does it know how many miles are on the car and track history of routine service it had? Is that tracked by a separate memory module?

Normally the body control module remembers all that stuff, not the ecu.

Did you get a spare ECU ? I see that they "clone" your ECU so does that mean that they send you back your original locked ECU and the unlocked one or do they just unlock the original one and send it back ? also if you don't mind mentioning how much the whole process cost that would great
