Catless Downpipes
To those of you running catless downpipes on your G8X do you guys have a CEL? I hear that some people run spacers but eventually the light comes on and some people have no light at all. I’m looking to go catless with JB4 but personally I would be very annoyed with a constant CEL and don’t want to have to constantly delete codes. What are your experiences and how long have you had your setup?

Another thread - lots of discussion to find using search. 18 months no CEL w BDG mini-catted spacers. You’ll find most have no or very infrequent CEL but a small minority have more often. No one knows the technical reasons for this, could be climate etc. Rule of thumb is hollow spacers for race/high flow cats and mini-catted spacers for catless. In my experience this gives best odds for no CEL but there are no guarantees without a full tune.

Based on feedback from the customers I speak with they are cel free but, there are a few on the forum that claim to get cels once a month or more. This may be attributed to a cracked cat in the spacer which can happen if the sensor screws in to far and touches the element.
Odds are in your favor that you will be cel free but nothing is guaranteed.

I think they just turn off that code and not the entire sensor monitoring.

This doesn't count bro, bm3 deal with that. Jb4 doesn't auto anymore.
Is that the only reason? I just installed the midpipe, next are dps. But I see some posts on another thread that BD mini cats o2 spacer have issues with MAD catted DPs. Now Im not sure if go with catted or catless. I spend 3k on the AA catted on my X5 M50i and I still dealing with the cel, even though I got new one for replacement, which I may be selling soon as I more focus now on the g80. lol Stock? What's the fun on that dude.

I'll try and help! What is your reason for wanting a catted downpipe over the catless or resonated ? Catted Bdg and catted downpipes is just not enough flow to the sensor you need to find something with less restriction to the sensor. Our Cats are on the bleeding edge of the sensor tripping. which isn why some people don't need to run a spacer at all while others are using the shortest possible. I think altitude and climate has a little to do with it as well.

If the fuel smell is not a concern, then catless is a better option. My main problem with downpipes is the fuel smell.

Yes, not an issue for me on fuel smell. But seems that catless will give you more rasp sound than catted which I woun't want to have.

Yes catless will definitely add raspiness to the sound.
