My Gentian Blue G80 showed up!

Congrats. It's a gorgeous color. Now would it have been so hard months ago to say we were getting the same color?

Seems to be both. Enzian (German), Gentian (English). Not sure why this seems to be the only color they offer that goes by names in 2 languages. My sales contract says Gentian, but the sticker under the hood says Enzian. Everyone seems to call it Enzian, and FWIW, I think it's a cooler word.

dealer asked i didn't post it and never got a clear answer why but i didn't want to rock the boat.

That's odd. First, it's your order so I'm not sure why it would matter. And it's not like you were posting the car you bought and took home while there was still the embargo for the dealers. You should have just said that to us in the first place months ago and we wouldn't have given you such a hard time about it.

Right, same case at Porsche. The current 911 (992) is also available in Gentian Blue, the German name for the color is Enzianblau. Interestingly, Porsche's Gentian Blue looks completely different from that of BMW.

I had the dealer jumping all around to confirm gentian wasn’t the Porsche Gentian blue as I definitely didn’t want metallic dark blue. No idea on why the name changed. I just got confirmation it was the same paint code as Enzian.

This car looks really nice in white though. There's something about it that looks a little extra nice in white than the F8x.

Enzian is definitely the cooler word!

because i have personal issues, i dug into this a bit more... the color is named after a flower and the flower actually has different names in english and in german. Which explains the two names in two languages.

Also the center of the flower is darker and the pedals lighter explaining how BMW and porsche have different colors with the same name.... it appears they took inspiration from different parts of the flower...

makes sense. i also had the blinkers uninstalled for weight savings since they will never be used. gotta keep up the BMW driver reputation!

How do you like the blue seats with the Enzian? I really wanted those seats and almost ordered SPY to get them, but I was too nervous to order them with Enzian without seeing the colors together in person.
