For a lot of folk, not necessarily the OP but perhaps, "sporty" feeling really comes down to wheelbase more than other attributes. A Fiat 500 can feel sporty, to some, despite taking 9 years to get to 60 mph.

If that's the case for the OP, or anyone else, the M2 might be the answer.

If you feel it's too big you could opt for the M2... But then again that is, absurdly so, the exact same weight as the M3.

What a stupid thread. OP wants to tell us that he had two g8x’s and now has a Porsche because the BMW wasn’t ‘sporty’ enough.

Sure, you want a weekend sports car, buy a Porsche. The g8x is one of the very few best sport sedans in the world. Que captain obvious.

Again, great car but was curious to how others felt after some decent seat time in their cars.
I’m in the same boat as you.
It’s now almost 2 years into ownership with many aesthetic & performance modifications however I’m still not totally happy with this car. It’s definitely missing a little bit of soul but my bias comes directly from owning a F82 for 4 years.
I feel like if you came from a shitbox Audi or whatever else , G80 will feel on a different level that is until you try a F8x lol or perhaps even a Porsche.

With the grille , lip etc upgrades , the car aesthetically speaking is essentially perfect in my eyes.
The CS coding on the transmission as well as adding a titanium exhaust also helped on the sporty feel.
My next mod will be coilovers, DP and finally throwing on some cup2’s which I think all together will seal the deal…... I hope

Yeah, I think you pretty much hit what I was thinking. I just didn’t want to have to pour in more money in order to make it more of what I wanted it to be but it definitely was an option at the time.
Interesting enough, I’d be curious how your next round of mods turn out.

Unfortunately , that’s the reality with these modern disposable cars where manufacturers are looking to cut costs for more profit.
So you have to drop money to make it more unique to your own taste.

I’ll definitely make a post on those mods and more later

I've never owned a car I didn't mod - for better or for worse. I don't think this has anything to do with the period the car came out in but rather the personality of the owner.

He sold his G80 because he’s not a turbo kind of guy. He never fell in love with his F80 and grew up as a Honda boy. No surprise his favorite M3 is the E92 and he’s owned a bunch of NA 911’s.

lol, I tried to own an F80…never fell in love with it. And I sold a 997.2 Turbo S and bought a G80. My second 911. They are different things but I am in no way disappointed in my G80. It’s exactly what I wanted it to be. And, oh, BTW, there is nothing in it between it and my Turbo S. An 991 or 992 Turbo can take it but not my 997.

I’d take my G80 10/10 over the F80 and 7/10 over a 911. Now for a weekend morning blast? Yeah, you want the 911. Twisties at your front door? 911. If not…the G8x has it covered.

What generation? 991.1 clutch super heavy and the 7MT is awful. The 991.2 is lighter and the MT is better but the 6 speed in 997 and earlier much better.

Missing raw power? You shoulda got a Comp xDrive. There is a big difference.

I can understand what you're saying.

Had mine for just under 2 years, xDrive, so didn't have a manual. Had all the power in the world, fast as hell, but I still found myself missing my F87 M2C with a MT.

Sometimes it's not all about the "raw power" or speed. I test drove a 718 GT4, far slower than a G80 xdrive but more engaging and felt more fun. Only bad thing with it was the gearing.... and the price..

Don’t get me wrong, excellent cars (first one was a great situation whereby dealer paid me so much to sell it after 6 months) but overall, the car felt big and not as “tight” for lack of a better word.

Don't know about the base/manual version, but the Competition certainly does not feel like it's not sporty enough. Quite the opposite, actually. Even in mid-range settings (Sport/D2) the car often feels like it's too much for driving on the street.

Had a 24 M4C and while it was powerful there was something missing. I sold the M4C and got 24M base. I’m MUCH happier now. The M4C was an amazing car but there is just something about rowing gears that is a big part of my fun. I just wish BMW offered the Comp with a manual.

My particular car sat at an Ashville, NC dealer for 6+ months. No one wanted a manual. I think BMW did us manual lovers a disservice by not offering a manual in a Comp. People will say the manual can’t handle the additional tq of the Comp but basically the same trans is used in higher tq cars so I’m not buying it.

If it’s not good enough for you, that’s fine. Get something else. However, everyone, I know loves it.

To be completely clear, as much as I love the DCT, I expected to be unhappy with the 8AT. However, with the proper associated settings, I have really nothing to complain about.
