Any good F80 vs G80 owner comparisons yet?

I'd love to see and owners comparison.

Is there anything in particular you'd like to know? I'm a few cars removed from my 2015 F80 but I can say, with certainty, this is one of the best driving M cars I've ever owned.

There's a few threads on this. I previously (2 cars ago) owned a 2016 F80. Loved that car. Love this one much more.

My F80 was my daily driver and my G80 is my current daily driver. As a daily, the G80 is lightyears better than the F80. The interior is much improved from the last gen. I love the looks and the power/driving dynamics are great!

The F80 was a great car as well, but was not as comfortable as a DD looking back on it.

Any specific questions you have?

Ask specific questions and we can do our best.

This car is better than my F80 CS by a wide margin.

What's the seat of the pants feeling? More like an F10 M5 or an evolution of the M3.

In my mind I think weighty more refined drive.

I've read articles about and driven the M550. Extremely capable car. But so good it's kind of boring.

Can’t speak to the M5 as I’ve never owned or driven one but I did own an M550 and what you said rings true. Very nice, capable car but boring. Luxurious and fast, but not an M in any sense of the letter.

As others asked, any specific questions?

Interior huge upgrade,
Technology huge upgrade,
Comfort huge upgrade,
Grip huge upgrade,
Predictability huge upgrade,
ZF vs DCT meh I miss the snap
Torque curve meh F80 was fun but G80 makes you bold
Styling I hated it until I saw it and then I loved it
Cabin size I think it's much bigger
Seats huge upgrade (non CF)

What else do you need to know ?

I Have gone from F82 to F80 to G80. G80 better in almost every way. So much fun to drive. Much more refined and planted. Miss the DCT a little bit the zf auto is smooth.

Drove all 3 back to back. I guess it depends on what you value in your M3.

I've got a question regarding the seats. How are the bolsters and seat tightness on the non buckets (standard seats) compared to the seats in the F80? I'm 6'4 240lb and found the F80 seat bolsters intrusive on my hamstrings during long trips. Not unbearable, but not enjoyable for long rides.

The G8X sports seats are a lot more comfortable then the F8X. My fiancé did nothing but complain about the seats in my F80 and loves them in my G80, just my perspective/opinion they are wider

That's the one minor complaint I have about the seats in my F82 - while I love the look of the seats and they're great for short distance drives, anything over 2 hours and I get lower back ache.

I don't think the lumbar support is great on them, so hopefully all the reviews are correct about the new bucket seats being some of the best and most comfortable ever put into a road car.

+1, my last car was a 550i and this is exactly my take on it.

Agreed. I had both an F8x M3 and M4 and really didnt enjoy much about either. My G80 M3 is a charming car and enjoying it off the bat much better but each day finding it more enjoyable as I break it in.
To name a few items.

Prefer the looks and interior design much better.
Sounds much better.
Suspension is much improved
Power band is a huge improvement.

Here are my impressions and I'll stress these are only my impressions, YMMV.

By way of context my g82 is my sixth M car. First was an e39 M5, then an e60 M5, followed by an e92 LRP M3, an f82 M4, f80 M3, and my current g82 M4.

To respond to your question. My 2016 f82 M4 was a joy--6 speed manual, no competition package since it wasn't yet available, M performance exhaust. Throw it into a corner, hit the brakes, and accelerate out...great fun. The f80 M3 was beautiful. Every conceivable option including Mexico Blue exterior, Opal White interior, lots of carbon fiber, competition package, and DCT. Great highway cruiser but very scary when pushing into a corner. Traction was questionable. Maybe it was me but it was not as planted as the prior M4.

Now, to the current g82 M4. A better car in all ways except the exhaust sound. I will fix that with Remus or an equivalent. Very comfortable, power is insane, suspension inspires confidence, cabin is great (I have the carbon fiber buckets and love them), and I'm still exploring the technology.

So, my admittedly personal view is my g82 M4 is the best M car I've owned. Again, YMMV.
