Coming from close to a 1000rwhp hellcat. I do love me some 60-130 pulls. However the car would have traction issues. GTR was going to be the next car, however for the life of me I couldn't justify a 100k for a super old (amazing) platform with outdated interior( I know people don't buy a GTR for its interior) That's where the g8x awd comes in with very similar stock performance and price and way better interior. It's the car for me. After finally securing the allocation and submitting the final build in, I'm ready to get an update and continuous updates on where this platform is heading.

I've seen some initial JB4 and stock chip and even one guy running low 10s with seeming jb4 and down pipes. What's next? Is there anything new. I know the platform is still extremely new, but I want to go hellcat hunting next year! Goal is low 5a to mid 4s 60-130 pull without breaking the car lol.

mods move to tuning please? It'll be a 9's car when someone has a FBO big turbos on e85 racegas with sticky tires.

I'd prefer a stage 2 G87 M2 xDrive at 600hp/trq for daily use myself. Prob mid 10s stage 2 with high flow downpipe for both the G87 and the G80.

I know where you are coming from regarding the GTR. I recently got rid of my 2021. It was tuned, intake, exhaust, and had flex fuel with 709 hp at the crank. It would snap your neck. I agree it is outdated but I loved the all wheel drive. Like yourself I ordered the M4 Comp. Xdrive and will have it in about 3 weeks. Sadly the ecu is locked at the present time but I'm hoping eventually they will find a solution and offer an OBD tune. Changing out the midpipe and adding a different intake are common options. I have elected not to go the piggyback route, hoping for an ecu tune at some point.

Interesting just JB4. Not the race chip?

I can't wait till we can go FBO e85 on this thing. I still have 10 vp jugs from the hellcat days.

The car has so much power, as it is, and Im still in break in. Ive been trying to keep it under 5k, but sometimes, the transmission doesnt want to shift. Kind of pisses me off.

This might be a dumb question but aren't you worried about warranty?

I mean, as soon as you get the car, you're going to tune it + E85 already? lol

I debated on getting a racechip or a JB4, but i wanna drive the car stock for a couple of months then do it. But i'm worried about warranty. Engines aren't cheap.

Not sure how much the motor is on this platform, but I know my friend has a E63 AMG, and the crate motor is $77,000

That can't be right lol.

That's almost the same price as the car itself.

But still, even if the S58 is "only 30k", that's a lot of money to risk by a tune. Bad gas, bad plugs, a cold night etc. All can contribute to a kaboom pull.

Well I want other people to do it first lol. I definitely don't want to be the first.

I mod my hellcat 3 months after I got it. However, there were a lot of people who ran e85 prior to me and had very little problems. Ended up blowing a tranny. The cost wasn't terrible, it was 7k. Well worth it. If the s58 is as good as everyone say it is. One would think it would hold up. It's part of trying to get faster.

I don't like the piggy back tune because I hate how it's still limited to 155. One of the things I can't stand about German cars. Need 2500 dollars to unlock the governor. A joke if you ask me.

Especially since he only paid $46,000 for the car, used.

Well to be fair, the 6.2 supercharged engine in your hellcat, same case in the corvette world of 6.2SC engines like the LT4/LT5 need little mods to grab insane power. Even on the stock tune.

I would've modified my car more if it was an auto. Not that the manual can't handle it. There are manual C7Z's out there on the stock clutch making 800rwhp. I just didn't want to deal with any more power than i already have, through a manual. Especially with how long my gearing is. You can't really have fun with it unless you strictly roll race. I only need a 3-4 shift whenever i do lol. It's insane but yet dumb how GM put these long gears in these cars.

I'm new to the BMW world so i know absolutely nothing. So that's why i'm afraid to do anything to the car lol. I basically wanna keep it stock but any car i get, i always do something to it. So i know i'll eventually install a part on the M3 when i get it. I just want to enjoy it stock for a bit before i do. But it's definitely clear the JB4/racechip are the best bang for buck for getting insane power. I'm only worried about warranty.

Piggyback or a true ECU flash, it doesn't matter. BMW NA can detect either one if they look hard enough. Higher boost, higher speed limiter, higher redline are just some of the parameters that give it away. And for those thinking their SA matters, once a expensive warranty claim is made, a PUMA case is opened for BMW of NA. Getting a separate ECU is the way to go if worried about the warranty.

That's what i figured.

I invested a couple of years in the subaru world and i know when you flash your accessport it's recorded permanently. Doesn't matter if you go back to stock, there's a code that's recorded into the ECU basically telling anyone, even the tuner, the stock tune has been changed once.

They also track acceleration parameters in a separate system from the ECU. Even if you could keep them from seeing the tune/piggyback, the acceleration gives it away and they will flag it.

Like others have said, this is strictly pay to play.

Regarding the car and tuning, 9's on stock turbos is insane. This platform has so much potential. A few companies are claiming they have unlocked the CPU already and started working on a flash tune. Throw in some bigger turbos and there are not many street cars that will be faster.

What is interesting to me is that BMW or any manufacturer could easily lock down the CPU on their cars. Simply inject an MFA approach for login or have some sort of secrets management for access to fuel/timing/etc. My point is that if they really wanted to lock these things down, they could.

You will be more happy with the M4 from a "best bang for the buck" perspective and performance as well. I was also in the market for a newer GTR, but I'm glad the prices of used and new GTRs drove me to the BMW dealership. The interior of the M4 is like a spaceship compare to the 2008-never-updated GTR interior.

I'm also with you on the upgrades. Waiting to see what's the best approach and hoping that some tuning chip will allow for any mixture of e85 like I had on my GTR. Because apparently, right now, you have to calculate the e% in your tank with JB4, which doesn't make me feel comfortable. Now, if JB4 can be combined with a BT FlexFuel kit, then I'm in.
