Not sure about the turn signals, but still a huge improvement.
Specific criticism aside, I do like these Youtube car designer channels reviewing and redoing designs. |

The current design has grown on me and I have come to accept it. I have yet to see an alternate design (and I've seen a lot) that improves things. The only other design that, IMO, would be an improvement is the CSL Hommage.

I think there have been many designs that look better. My problem with the grilles is the height, it is such a dramatic change. I think a shorter (in height) grille with a more modern angular look would have been my preference. I think a dark color alleviates that problem, but I just don't think I will ever love the front end, time will tell. Somewhat telling about the drastic change is the dozens of re-designs all over the internet and social media a month after launch. It is not just the longtime forum members that are having a hard time adjusting to the new look. |

Isn't the picture he's using to trace a render from before the car even launched? The grilles look much wider than they actually are!

No, don’t like it. Breaking up the grills that way looks too reminiscent of a Dodge Charger from like 10 years ago. Plus, the running lights are terrible.

Yea hes definitely using an unofficial render with wider grilles which doesn't help lol his redesign is one of the worst Ive seen in my personal opinion but I'm sure he spent a lot less time than some of these other 3d renders we see out there. Cool video though for sure! I think a majority of people think they dislike the large grille but really its the intakes/mouth underneath and he made no changes to that. It just looks so strange which is something I kind of dig about it but Im not at all surprised that others dont.

Foose is a true designer who has done some pretty radical stuff over the years, but it was always balanced and beautiful.
BMW has lost all of their best designers to competitors over the past few years, and it's showing. I don't want my BMW to look like a Lexus or Audi (or a Star Wars helmet). BMW flunked this exam. Great video Chip. |

Sorry, but Chip didn’t do the car any favors. The real car looks much better and far more aggressive.

Every single redesign has been much worse in my opinion so apparently its pretty easy to make it more of a mess...so different strokes I guess

I agree with Chip Foose about the design of the soon to released M3 and maybe I am old as well almost 55. I knew when I saw our F80 in July 2014 we liked the looks of the car and purchased it the following week. The same thing happened when I saw the F90 in July of 2018 and August of 2018 we bought the F90.
Styling of vehicles is very subjective as many have commented they like the new design. When the C7 Corvette became available the Corvette community was up in arm with the rear tail lamps changing from round design that had been with the Corvette for many years. I personally liked the new design and I bought a 2014 C7 Z51. The new C8 Corvette mid engine is a new design and I like the looks of the C8. |

Even though the Corvette is now so much more bang for the buck than an M car, I won’t be surprised if BMW sales of the struggling 4 cars, as well as the M3, M4, and even the i4 sell well. |
