uber a spare
Have scissor jack and breaker bar in trunk. Takes up no room in trunk.
Keep a full size spare on side of my house. If i'm local (which is most of the time) i just UBER myself the spare. Faster than a tow. Blowout twice especially in NY metro area. Total downtime from tow was 2hrs 45 min. Uber my spare was 35 min total. Had the wheel off before he got there. Also if you wanted to carry a donut spare i think you could pick up one cheap on ebay intended for Audi VW. Since BWW switched to the 5x112 bolt pattern

Thanks. From Bayside myself. Long Island now. Son still lives there. Always park my car in LIRR spot!

Over the years (dating back to my original e46 M3), I have always kept a full-sized spare (value-priced alloy wheel with whatever all season tire was the best price at the time) around, and I strap it down in the trunk if I'm taking a longer road trip or otherwise feel the need.
For my G80, I'd like to do the same. Looks like a 275/35/19 has a diameter of 26.6 inches. As compared to a 285/30/20 with 26.7 inches. So it's a 0.4% difference based on the online tire calculator I checked. If I do a 19x9.5 et 22 wheel with a 275/35/19, would that be safe to run as a spare on the rear (opposite a 285/30/20) without damaging the diff? Thanks for your thoughts! |
