I have owned all m3 from the E30 M3 till the f80 M3. Next to that 130i, 1M Coupe and M2.

My latest car is the M2C.

The nicest car for me was the 130i and 1M coupe. Because of it s size and weight.

F80 was my last M3. I buy these cars looking for fun in corners. But the M3 has grown to much in weight and size for me.
It is not nice anymore to extract fun in cornering out of it.

M2C has the same obesitas problem. And next to that the M2 has grown also bigger in size. The sweetspot was the 130i and 1M Coupe in size!

BMW does compensate the weight by adding more hp and wider wheels. Then you get a car which is fast and has lots of grip. To extract fun out it you need idiot speeds.

Give me a 1200kg and 300hp rwd and lsd 6 speed manual and not extrem wide tires i tell you that it s more fun in corners then a 1500kg 500hp car. But if you like the straights yes grab 1500 kg pig and give it loads of hp.

If the next m2 is bigger and heavier again i am done buying ///M. Maybe only an x3M as a family car and tow my E30 M3 DTM to the track.

This car will be amazing. BMW does it again. Glad it will at least have a manual option although AWD + manual would be preferable for many in cold climates

With all these photos being taken, has nobody wanted to do a quick recording too so we can have some idea what it sounds like? Or are these all "leaked" by BMW themselves? There have been photos of it at the ring...video it as well!

Don't think so. It has a standard rear bumper, but you can see how it does not line up with the rear quarter panel.

Agreed.

It’s funny because the M3 and M5 used to be distinguishable by more than size...but doesn’t appear to be the case going forward. The “sausage of a different length” is not very interesting.

They want to spend all this time and effort on AWD to put the power down...why don’t you just make it lighter, not necessarily more powerful? Maybe put some decent rubber on the car stock? Or make the chassis better, so you don’t need trickery?

I love the feeling of power and grip. I'm rotating the car around a corner, not drifting. If I feel like I'm on the edge of grip without driving any faster than a 4 runner what's the point? It's just hard to enjoy light and nimble on the street when so many cars are quick compared to your glorified e-series M cars. Even on my track car, I lightened everything and then immediately started looking for ways to create downforce. Grip is addicting.

Even if it only had 300hp, the first thing people would do is ask 1. how wide of a wheel/tire package can fit without rubbing and 2. when is a flash tune coming.
