Eh... Mustang is better looking. The Mustang design is deliberate and caters to those who like both muscle cars and your basic 2-door coupe. This? Not sure they have a a clear direction. I'll keep banging this drum, which is that China is the new money and they like to show off that money, hence the outrageous front.

Just took some time to look at other vehicles to compare and contrast the looks. Took a look at the Infiniti, Lexus, Porsche (debatable is even in same class), Mustang (again, same class?), Camaro (ditto), Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and Jaguar.
The BMW stands out but in the worst way. They all, to various degrees have large grilles but the strict majority have done a better job at making the large grilles blend in better with the cars previous designs/heritage/commonalities. The best at it IMO: MB, Audi, Ford, Porsche, and Jaguar The worst: BMW, Lexus, Infiniti and Chevrolet (thought hard about these last two) Again, just my opinion but when we look around, the more we'll see that something/someone needs to change at BMW |

Copying a 3-year old design is never flattering or bold/innovative.
Also, I find Infiniti coupe drivers unusually fixated on racing me on the street for some reason...sometimes I've wondered if they would rather be driving a M3 or M4. At least now they'll be driving the same design. |

Yes, but we should be looking at cars that weigh less not more.
New C8 or 911 are/will be approximately 300lbs lighter

Not M3 but very close to M4
This tread is about M4 coupe and Porsche 911 is right there. 911 is just superior car and bmw should look to catch up instead getting more fat.

The F80 was almost universally praised as the true-to-life "leaks" started to come out. Muscular, aggressive, a bit more finished out back but doing all the right things when considering it following up the mostly loved E90. Until they were seen in metal, there were concerns that the fender vent was tacked on and not open/functional, but that disappeared as soon as the car was really seen. The F82, when the first real world photos appeared—in Austin Yellow—was stunning and 9/10ths of those who were chiming in were thrilled with the design. Thinking, "wow and they're going to make the new 6 look like a more Luxo-oriented version of THIS! BMW is set for the next 7-10 years." If you're talking the NA vs FI issue and gripes, that's got nothing to do with the exterior on a car you're paying to see every day. Is there really anyone who dislikes the profile/silhouette and design features across the board on the F80s? IMO it's the likely the best looking sedan to be released in the past 15 years.

BMW's target has never been the 911 and an M3/M4 has never been in the same weight category as the 911 either. Why you should expect that now is beyond me. Even the 911 ranges between 3200-3600 pounds depending on model (...the 3200 lb. figure attributed to the 991 GT3). |

Ugly POS. In addition to the atrocious hood line we now have god awful grills to look at. Instead of growing their size, how about we get larger displacement NA engines with more classic styling?
Car demand has collapsed in Europe and BMW is cutting 5% of its global force through early retirements and attrition. With ugly designs ruling the day, more cuts might be needed. Before you flame me, I have 3 BMWs but good luck to Munich's efforts to reach into my pocket for a 4th. Peace |

There are other cars that are similar size but weigh al lot less like 911 or C8 didn't mention they are competing in same class. Mine point was that, I hope it doesn't add more weight which is very hard to do but I am sure everyone would appreciate it.
