1000 hp stock internals/ GTR vs S58

So I am wondering.. because I am new to this platform and wanting to make more power without changing my stock internals. My previous car was a GTR and it made 1000 hp on stock internals by limiting the torque to 650 foot pounds. This was quite a common set up for Gtr owners (FBO plus) i’ve been reading a lot of threads about guys changing rods, pistons and clutches etc. to make 1000 hp.

Can’t the same technique (tune) be applied to the S58 to be able to make 1000 hp on stock internals by limiting the torque to a safe level?

It is very common for a tuner to limit TQ to 700 or less to protect rods. You can easily build to 1KHP.

The rods in the s58 are stronger than the vr38, they are forged from the factory. Not to say they are indestructible but bending rods is not as easy as it is on the gtr. It is just very early in the development of the platform, there are less turbo options available and there are only a handful of cars out there pushing the limits and figuring out what works.

Yes with a single turbo setup that limits the mid range tq hit you can def hit 1000. The problem is people be requesting all the tq in the world below 3.5k rpms and wonder why they are bending rods.

I understand it’s not cheap to build. Just personally would not go this route. Just over build and be done with it. Use all the potential power you have. F babying the torque. Turn the wick up and enjoy. Our GTR is over built for 1300 Wheel. I think full kill map is around 1100 torque. The car has been flawless. Runs like a freight train and knock on wood has had no big failures. I love the piece of mind that we are over-built. Spend it now so you don’t grenade something and it cost you double to fix all the stuff that was in the line of fire. Just my opinion
