My feedback after a few weeks of use:
- sound is aggressive but controlled
- amplified cracks and burbles in Sport+
- minimal drone IMO, and can be virtually silenced when closing valves
- add a valve controller if you want more volume on demand (which I may consider after some time)

If you want a super loud system, there are other options for that. I personally wanted something that added a tempered aggression to the stock sound, and Dinan delivered on that.
Sound clips on my IG @green_g80blin
...and now I wish I'd gone for the black tips. The Dinan printing on the chrome tips is barely visible. Oops.

Polished tips are infinitely more unique (far less sold) so you got the scarcity thing going for you at least. =)

I had the mid pipe paired with the Oem back section. I’m considering the back muffler however, I’m worried about the sound becoming obnoxious.

Simillar challenge here. Also have the mid section with valve controller, and really enjoying the sound. Looking at the back section mostly for the look. According to the vids I’ve seen, adding the back box doesn’t increase too much in the way of volume, but I’ve not heard the combo in person. Could be quite different. 🤷‍♂️

I may wind up with this setup for my new M4. I had a Dinan system on my X3MC and it had a really nice low rumble. I did have a problem with the black tips paint coming off within 100 miles but Dinan shipped a new set of tips immediately. Great customer service.

Here is a quick clip. Not a M3/M4 but same engine.

https://youtu.be/AbJSMWNEC4c?si=JWLa-FmHNiYHEzSO

EDIT: it has an ER midpipe and an RK Tines intake. Pretty easy to hear it😉

Generally speaking the axle-back addition doesn't add a great deal of extra volume an already existing mid-pipe setupf. The main get from the axleback in the sound department at least is the change in tone to a deeper one.

It makes the car louder in comfort mode and with a non valve controlled setup.

All stainless exhausts sound within 99% of each other. They’re essentially straight pipes.

Where in Florida are you? I’m in swfl but travel to Tampa Orlando and south Florida pretty often. I’m planning on getting one after MAD releases theirs and I can compare them.

Unless Dinan_Engineering wants an epic review with dslr quality videos for the right price I’m ready to buy today ;-)

I’m sure my DIY thread for your valve controller swayed quite a few people to purchase with zero effort on my part. I’d have my wife proof read the post since I normally just punch letters and hit send while I’m driving or on a bike ride that I’m on right now lol

I’m in the Orlando area. Oh cool re the comparison. That’ll be great. I’m sure I’ll end up doing something at some point. Getting tired of seeing the stock muffler there.

…nicely done…haha.

Dinan_Engineering Any idea how I can get replacement exhaust tip/clamp?

I had my exhaust professionally installed by Performance Technic on 4/28/23 and have since had one loose exhaust tip (so far have only put on ~1000 miles on the exhaust).

No matter how tight the clamp is tightened or what position the tip is mounted, the exhaust tip can be wiggled out/pulled off (warped tip?) and slightly shifts after longer drives. This causes me to have to reposition the tip every so often so it is aligned and does not fall off. The other 3 are secured tight and have no wiggle/play when mounted but this one has so much play it can be slipped off without any tools. I even swapped the tips around and it seems that this one tip is the culprit.

Other than the tip issue that I am hoping to resolve. The Dinan Mid Pipe, Axel Back and SST Valve controller sounds like a dream.

Contact warranty/support at 1-800-341-5480 and they can assist with a replacement tip and/or clamp. Just be ready to send them the photos, etc. I'm guessing it's either uneven (thin) ceramic coating on that tip or more likely the clamp itself is jacked up. Either way give them a call and we will get it resolved.

Just installed today from EAS. Noticeably deeper, angrier, and less burbles than the stock axle back. Paired with an ER midpipe and Awron valve controller. Sounds perfect 👍🏽

Do not unfortunately. The only G8x product with ECE/TUV would be the intake at present. As our partner in Germany does the various testing for various components it will be populated on their website HERE.

Those black tips go well with your blacked-out car. I got the full Dinan Catback system with polished tips. The cons of getting them are the "hard-to-read" lettering on the tips. Nonetheless, I like the classy look of them. Kudos to mike@x-ph.com
