I prefer an analog watch over digital any day. Same goes for gauges. But I'll be ok with the digital gauges in the G80.

My A35 with HUD and AR Nav absolutely blows away anything BMW have - including 8 series, M's. And we're talking a Merc A class here. Want a centre rev counter (that goes CW !), got it. Want twin analog dials, got it. Want full nav in the dash, got it.
BMW are miles behind. Interesting that the i4 is heading to the full screen layout as per MB. Twin binnacles look ancient, as they are. Edit, only talking digital dash here, not car dynamics :-)

I much prefer the mini finger operated lever for the electronic brake on my Jeep to the yank the stick up with my whole hand lever on my M4.

Here' another reason to dislike the digital dash - over dimmed displays when you tint
Window tint triggering auto-dimming on both displays during the day https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1628439 As far as I know BMW has no answer for this |

FWIW... in my humble opinion... BMWs implementation of Virtual Cockpit is probably the worst I've seen... granted the M car is a little better with the one middle digital gauge in M mode but the standard reverse tachometer dash is absolutely disgusting. Audi did it completely right and knocked it out of the park with analog looking 100% digital gauges... Benz came a close 2nd... BMW, not entirely sure what the thought was there, just like the front.

the digital gauges will not age well, they will look like sh** in a few years as the new tech rolls out. who wants a 5 year old phone or laptop screen? nobody.
BMW digital cluster is already obsolete tech (it's not RGB OLED, it's not 120Hz, doesn't have 3D lenses to give it depth, the graphics is too dull and there isn't much cool animation effects either).... I personally prefer high quality analog main dials combined with multiple screens that surround or seamlessly integrate with the dials... and oh yeah I make tech for a living...so not anti tech

Those who have said that analog gauges only appeal to "well seasoned" (old) drivers miss a basic point. Many of the buyers of the manual transmission are in the same demographic. If you want to keep the MT option available, an analog option might keep some geezers from going over to the dark side. My daughter is now 40. She was never an enthusiast, but she drove a manual until a couple of years ago. She told me that none of her friends that were her age could drive her stick-shift car.

I wanted an C63 AMG, but they aren't making new coupes and bringing them to the US. I don't have R8 money.
